Ok please help I am a newbie. I have been doing tons of reading and I have read about the AP discount for rooms. I checked the mousesavers site and every year for the past four years Disney has had a AP code/discount for the timeframe we are going (early May 08). So unless there is some rumor that they are totally doing away with these AP discounts, it would be reasonable to assume they will have one for next May. My question is, if I book a room only ressie for next May and then the AP discount becomes available, how exactly do you get the discount? The day the code comes out do you have to be on the phone at 7 am and 0 seconds to beat out thousands of other people doing the same thing?? Do you have to already have your AP? or can you call the first day of the code, order your AP and get the discount?

I read on another thread that someone used Dreams Unlimited to book their vacation and that they just added the AP discount to their room automatically.

We are planning on staying 8 nights at the YC or BC the first full week of May next year. Just a standard room. Anyone have any recent experience with what the typical AP discount is for a Deluxe hotel??

Please someone help this newbie!!!

Thanks

Kate

Hi and welcome,

I believe there is a site where you can see the historical discounts offered, when they were offered dates, and a release date for the discount. I can't say I remember where.

It has followed suit very well so far. If you make a reservation early and code comes out you just call CRO and let them know you have code. They will then check for availability and change your reservation to reflect the discount or tell you that they don't have rooms for your choice. You could then pick another hotel, change dates or just stay with your original plans.

Really it is not hard and rooms don't just disappear like that. I would not wait till the end if you have your heart set on a resort like AK during a non flexible time.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. Can anyone else address my other questions about when you have to have the AP? Can you order it as you are talking to COR about switching the room to a discount rate? Do you order the AP online as soon as you find out about the code, print out a sheet or something and then call COR?? Also any idea about how much off the AP gets you for a Deluxe hotel?

Thanks,

Kate

PS Also what does COR stand for. I have figured out a lot of acronyms around here but not that one! I figured it is some kind of reservation number. ;)

HigDonk/Kate:

CRO = stood for Central Reservation Office

The name changed a few years back to..

DRC = Disney Reservation Center

But around here both terms get used interchangeable cause old habits die hard.

You need to have the AP or the voucher for your AP at check-in. So you can book the room anytime with the AP code.

AP savings on deluxes can vary but a good one gives you about 75$ off a standard room.
