I'm going with my family in a few months. We slipped in under the wire with the three room/AP discount. I'm the only one in the group with an AP. Unfortunately, it looks like I am going to have to go home early while the rest of the family stays. Question is, if I leave, do those remaining get charged for the rack room rate for the days after I leave? :confused3
What will it make it even more obvious is that I'm probably going to give up my room after I leave. (I'd been hoping that the remainder of the family would stretch out after I left, but there is a money concern.)

As long as you are there at check-in, that's all that matters. They don't do room checks to make sure you are still there.

So, should I just tell them that we need 3 rooms for dates xx-xx and 2 rooms for xx-xx? They're not going to figure out who goes in which room?

I missed the part in your original post that there will be one less room needed after you're gone. That does make it a little tricky since they put the actual names on the room keys now.

Do they check to see just whose name is on the AP? I've never checked in with an AP before. Do they ask how many AP's there are in the party? Some in the group will have MYW tickets, but not all.

We were just there 2 weeks ago. Over the period of time that the "best rate" program went into effect. So I'm not sure what changes in checking in will be. Here's the scenario happening right to the left of me.

AP holder (NOT the person staying at POR) came up a day early to show her AP for her son, and his girlfriend, who were checking in the next day. She asked if she had to come back tommorow when they were checking in to show her AP. Nope. Not a problem, it was marked in the system, and they would be able to check in with the AP rate and NOT the AP holder present.

I was always under the understanding that as long as the AP holder is present when checking in, everything was fine with the time you stay. We had 4 rooms booked last time. Me, DH, and DD have AP's. And everyone stayed different lengths of time. We were there the whole time, but there was no issue at all.

I hope this sets your mind to ease. I would call and ask Disney to know for sure. Good luck!

Thanks to both Cinderella2004 and DebbieB for your help! :grouphug:

I mean, worst case scenario... we're going to have a wonderful time and pay rack rates for part of the trip. Best case scenario, we're going to have a wonderful time and pay AP rates for the whole trip. It's a win/bigger win situation! :cool1:
