AP Discount eligiblity?

I am planning on getting an annual pass for the first time in 2019 based on my travel plans. If I was to purchase the pass ahead of my initial trip (late January) would I be able to take advantage of AP room discounts in the interim (possibly saving some bucks on my January trip), or would I only be eligible once I have activated the pass in January?

You don't have to have an annual pass at the time that you make the reservation in order to get the discount. But you do have to have one by the time you check into the resort.
