AP Discount & Dining Plan

ok, is it possible to get an AP for me, book a room at a AP discount, and then get MYW tix for everyone else (including a one-day for me so I can get the DDP as well).

would this work? is it worth it for the AP with only 2 trips per year?

Nope, you must buy a package to get the dining plan. No AP discounts on rooms with packages.

I have an AP and Dsis and I are going in August, we're paying rack rate for the package and getting 1 day tickets, she will upgrade hers to a 4 day hopper and I'll hold my 1 day for future upgrade to either a hopper or AP.

if you have an AP already, you either forfeit the AP rate and buy a package anyway (and save your ticket for renewal credit) or you keep the AP rate and buy into the Disney Dining Experience.

if you don't have an AP already, theoretically you could book a package with everything and then upgrade a ticket to the AP. there might be some technicalities i'm missing though.

What they said--no DDP available to rooms with AP discounts.

Two trips can save you enough to get your money's worth out of the AP if they are long enough, and if you are able to take advantage of room discounts, dining discounts, etc. If you're talking two 5 day trips, you'd probably be better off with 10 day nonexpiring tickets.

I'm sure someone else will do a much more detailed analysis for you, but we've found that we've generally done better with other package promotions (such as free DDP) than we have with AP's unless we can get 3 trips out of them. But we live about as far away from WDW as you can possibly get in the continental US, so frequent short trips are impractical for us.

Disneyagain, Did you try to apply the new Aug/Sept code to your reservation? Disney has a promotion where the room is reduced and you can still purchase the DDP. I was going room only at the POR for $94 (AP rate) and now I am paying $104 , getting the 1 day MYW to be used later,but I am able to purchase the DDP.
