AP discount code...calling in vs online

I am trying to make some reservations at AKL using the AP discount. When I put in two nights, it says there is availability, but not with the code. When I extend it to 5 nights the same room is discounted with the code. I know there is not a minimum stay on the AP code because it is working on other rooms with just 1 night. I'm not sure why it is giving me a discount on 5 nights and not 2 nights. I know that codes have limited inventory, but both reservations include the SAME two nights in the SAME room type at the SAME resort, so it should work, right? Would calling in help? What about reserving the 5 nights and then calling in to reduce it to 2 nights?

They do this to encourage people to stay longer. It's not a glitch. You could try calling in to see if a supervisor can do an override. If you reserve for 5 nights, there is no guarantee they will reduce it to 2 with the discount.

I always thought the CMs on the phone could see the same thing we see when booking, but now I'm not so sure. I always book online, but recently I was having an issue booking Poly CL LV online (showed no availability even if I played around with dates, not even for full price and when I looked night by night...). So I called and played dumb and gave the agent my dates and resort. She went on to say "would you like TPV, LV, or GV" and I hesitated a bit and said that I wanted LV so she said ok and booked it just like that! I even had the reservation page on my screen and kept refreshing and never once did LV show up for me. Actually, the only thing that EVER showed up for me was TPV. But yet the agent could book GV, LV, or TPV on her end! So I guess I'll be calling in the future when I can't get what I want online.

I guess, but I already reserved two rooms for the first night with the code two weeks ago. The system had no problem reserving that first night with a code. I want to add the second night and figured I'd do it by reserving two nights together and then canceling the first reservations. When I try to get the second night by itself, it shows no availability at all, even w/o a discount lol. I wonder if I call in and ask about adding the second night on to my current reservations, if that will work.

Good to know. Thanks!
