Ap codes anytime?!

Ok I know there have been tons of posts about the AP passes before but i have never found the answer to this. Im thinking of upgrading my pass in may to an AP pass because i would love to go to disney again in Oct. Well my question is do you always get a discount on rooms with the AP or do you always pay the rack rate and just wait for a code? TIA!

Pay rack rate and wait for the code.

I would buy the AP for admission only and not the room discounts as a code may or may not come. There was a "black hole" last year and ealier this year only the Epcot resorts had AP discounts (for deluxes).

So while the chances are decent there will be an AP code, there is also a chance that there might not be a code, or for your resort, or for your travel time.

Call disney now, and find out if the AP rate is available for the resorts you are searching. You can book now, then get your ap upon arrival. You dont have to have the anual pass to book the annual pass rate. Therefore, What I would do is simply call in, find out, book, and be done with it. pm me with any questions, i have done this before. In fact, ill be at the poly for 239 /night in jan

We did not get an AP rate for our trip in June of this year (06).
They skipped June and July it was only offered at certain resorts.

An AP helps with getting room discounts. But it is not guaranteed. If that is your main concern with buying an AP, I agree with others here -- wait and see first.
Before moving here, we use to get a room disocunt on APs -- usually. One time there was no AP discount. But I was able to use a public discount. And another time I was lucky enough to get a postcard rate.

We got the AP for our DVC trips and then do an AP rate for some quick smaller trips if the discount is good.

We had a AP rate at POP then switched it to POFQ for our Oct 06 trip .
