AP Blockout Dates and Crowd Levels

I know I found this information somewhere on here before, and now I don't remember where.

My DLR dates are June 21-23. On the 21st, SoCal Select is blocked. On the 22nd and 23rd, SoCal Select and SoCal are blocked, but Deluxe is still open. What will this typically mean for the crowd levels in the park?

I understand that most local guests come on the weekend, not midweek (which is why we planned a Tuesday-Thursday trip), but this will be summer, and most schools will be out, right?

If you want to just give me the link to where to find this information, that would be fine with me. I'm just not doing well with searching the forum the past few weeks.

THANK YOU!!!

The Deluxe APs are not the issue. It is the SoCal APs because those are the ones held by the locals. The locals are the ones who can afford to dedicate a disproportionate amount of their time to a single new attraction and hence do not mind the extremely long waits as much as the occasional out-of-town visitor.

Hi there!!

you can go to disneyland.com and click on park hours...it takes you to the calendar....click on the day you want and it tells you what annual passes are blocked.

As a local AP holder(i have the premium..because of parking and discounts..the rest of the family has deluxe) we usually always go on sundays....the only time that we go during the week is when a ride or show is opening. We are at California Adventure at 6am the day World of color opened. But also being a local we don't usually rush to do everything. We only wait in lines when we really want to ride a ride. And most of the time we just take in the atmosphere!

It does look like that will be the first week of summer vacation for most schools.

Hope this helps you.... have a great trip. :goodvibes

I think those days in June will be fine!

I'm a local with a Premium, too. However, I find Sundays to be too crowded and will...not... go on a Sunday when the other passes are usually available. Saturdays I'm not scared of. If we get to the park and there are lines, we're out. I'm lucky in that I have CM family members and usually am told when the crowds are light or heavy.

We're planning on going August 23-31 and avoiding Saturdays and going to DCA on Sunday. I'm hoping that weekdays some california schools will be back and that it won't be too busy.

We can go earlier in August, but I rationalized that I would rather deal with local AP's who go often that tourists who need to see anything. Does this make sense?

To me, no. This year will be a huge test on the effect of AP blcokouts lifting as will 2012 and CarsLand.

In 2009 the week after AP blockouts lifted in August was extremely crowded (just ask BlackJackDelta). In 2010 it was not. But in 2010 there was a huge heat wave that week. So it was not clear if the manageable crowds was because the AP blockout issue has reduced or the weather was unpleasant. As long as there are no heat waves this year we will find out which it is.

For me I will still avoid the unblocked APs if I can. I do not have anything against them (I myself have a Deluxe AP) but am pragmatic about how the trends affect crowds.
