We just got back from the Not So Scary Halloween Party. We stayed at POP for one night and changed the rest of our reservation, while we were there. We thought it would be a good resort and the price was very good. When we got there we had nothing but problem and moved to POR.

We also booked a trip for Christmas under the Best Rate Program. We ended up with ASMu and I am concerned about that after my experience at POP.

Does anyone know how Disney handles AP rates and upgrading hotels, and what we would expect to pay 12/8-12/13 to make this change.

I am going to try to call them tomorrow or Monday but I wanted to hear from others that might have made a change within the 60 day window.

I know I have done upgrades while there, but that was before the BRP. I would like to say that there should be no problem since you are "upgrading" therefore giving Disney more money. If you were trying to downgrade and get the difference back would be another story.

Don't wait til monday to call them.... Rooms for xmas time is selling out quickly!!!!! :earseek:

I believe that if you are upgrading and the cost is more, there isn't any fees. However if you are making changes and the total price goes down, then they will charge you $50. Also, if you completely cancel it, your deposit you put down is not refundable.

Also I agree with what Snowbrut said about not waiting. I made reservations last weekend for Dec 06 and was told it was a good thing I was because rooms for that time are already going fast, so you can imagine how limited Christmas 05 reservations at this point have to be.

Thank you for the input!

I called today and the only thing they offered me was $900+ at AK for the 5 nights! That is just too much! They said to keep calling every day and that there may be some openings or cancellations between now and 12/8.

Well the worst case is that we will tough it out at ASMu. Which is not so bad because we get to go 2 times this year! And I can't complain about that!

I will call every day, because it does not hurt to ask - worst case we end of right where wer started.

Wish me luck!

We have a room booked at ASMu for 12/14-12/18 at a BRP rate of $66 per night! Please don't fret about the All Stars- all of them are pretty good. I do understand about POP though, as I am no fan! We left POP to go stay at
ASsp in May! I don't know what it is about the place but it just wasn't my cup of tea at all. We are DVC members and have stayed deluxe, mod and value. We have no problem staying at an All Stars for the cost for a quick little weekend trip so that my boys can enjoy the festivities of Christmas and MVMCP! We are thrilled to be going for a quick trip during the holidays for little money.

Sorry for the contrary opinion-we hated the AS. We also just upgraded our BRP from POP for the beginning of December - there is no charge to upgrade. Carribean beach was still available if that helps you.

What phone # did you call. I called Sat and Mon and they said they had no rooms in any moderate hotel with the BRP rate code. If I don't use the BRP rate code they will charge me full price.

Any help would be appreciated

I agree with the earlier opinion that you should give AS a try. We've stayed in both ASMo and ASMu at Christmastime, and while I liked ASMo a little better than ASMu, they were both much better than our August stay at Pop. Again, I can't exactly put my finger on why I didn't like Pop, but it sure wasn't very impressive for a relatively new facility. In short, don't fret if you get "stuck" with AS, I think it's better than Pop.

Ok....so what is the deal with POP? We are planning on staying there in June for 2 weekend nights at the beginning of our trip (then off to Boardwalk Villas) and then back the following weekend to POP (to save points!). We are doing the hopping around to save points....but I don't want to make it an overall bad experience if POP is really awful!

Please give me some specific input...would I be better off to book at one of the AS? :confused3

I believe you can only book BRP online through the passholder site (or your TA can do it for you) but that it must be done prior to 60 days.

Well to be brief...... it is a huge resort with bad parking (I think we walked atleast 4 blocks to get to our room). Not so bad unless you sat in the lobby and food court for 3 hours while Disney was trying to fix a mistake they made on our reservation (This is another long story)

The lobby and food court were consistent mobbed and VERY NOISY.

Then when we got to our rooms 2 of the refrigerators did not work and there was no cold water in another.

I don't mean to make POP sound all that bad. As a matter of a fact if you are looking for a family vacation with smaller children or simply a place to sleep at night, then POP would be perfect. Pop is colorful, fun and affordable!

Final note: I would never pay full price for a room, I would rather not go. My family talked me into POP. Before we stayed there I talked them into going on my AP around Christmas. The only room we could get at a discount when I booked was ASMu.

However, I am going to try another value resort, but for the Christmas holiday I will be going with a smaller group and besides it Christmas.....I will not be the grinch this year, I will be at Disney and after all it is the happiest place on earth!

So, I intend to let the magic of Disney at Christmas lift my spirit and simply enjoy it!

kellyf2626 - we stayed at POP on the weekend before our VWL check in. We loved the place. It was our first time staying at a value. We thought the theming was fantastic. We will be staying at POP before our DVC check in next year. The only thing different is my DB and his family our coming (and they are newbies to WDW). Enjoy your trip.

joelly and elan...thanks for the info! We really are just using it as a place to stay for a few nights. I noticed the two prices of rooms - standard and premium. Does premium mean closer to the food court, etc?

I prefer the moderates and when we get a good deal the deluxes but we just made two quick trips to WDW and stayed at Pop. I have to say I didn't mind it, we had previously tried the ASMu and I will never, never stay there again. Pop is way better in my opinion.
