AP at SOG

If I buy an AP at SOG in March and activate it in Oct is the expiration in March, purchase date, or Oct, activation date?

Whenever I have bought one at WDW, it was active the day I bought it.

If I buy one ahead of time, via phone or internet, it is active the day it is activated at WDW.

Will SOG sell you a "voucher," that is, a non-active AP for later use?

They sell a ticket that has to be activated before you enter the park. Does anyone know the answer to my original question?
