Joined DVC about 6 months ago and at that time my son lived with us. Since then he has moved to an adjacent county for a new job and changed his address on his drivers licence (per MD law).

I know I will have no problem getting annual passes for my wife and daughter as we all have a licence with the same address but how can I get one for my son?

Can he buy his own just be showing his DVC card?

I would suspect not as the DVC card would cross reference to my address and his license would show his new address, even though we have the same last name.

Seems kind of strange that I could rent out his room to a stranger (not that I'm going to do that!!)who would be eligible to get a discounted AP because the stranger would have the same address as me, yet I can't get one for my own son.

Anybody run into a similar problem and were you successful in getting an AP at the DVC discounted rate?

No, unless he is listed as an actual owner and his address recorded as such, he is not able to get the discount. Our adult kids are listed as associate members, but they do not get the discount because they don't live with us.

The DVC member discount on AP's is only available to family members who live at the same address as the member. So neither your son who lives elsewhere or your hypothetical stranger/boarder would qualify.

A couple of possible avenues to investigate would be putting your son on the account as a co-owner, or adding him as an Associate Member.

Adding him as a co-owner is a process, but it's easy to do and relatively inexpensive. Contact Member Administration for that.

Adding him as an Associate is very easy to do (you can do it online via the Member website), but I'm not sure that would qualify him. MS or Member Administration could probably tell you.

JimMIA--I'll have to check the deed, but I think I put my kids (18 and 21) on the deed as co-owners (just in case the wife and I take a "dirt nap") they can inherit our portion of BLT. Unfortunately I'm at work and can't access the deed till later.

If my son is in fact a co-owner, do you or anybody else think there would be an issue with his being able to purchase an annual pass on his own as a DVC member and owner?

Would I have to make any address change for him on the DVC records to match up to his current drivers license address?

Of course he will probably make the arguement that this is a parental expense and the cost should come out of my wallet!!!

If he is on the deed, he should have a blue membership card in his name. If so, he'll have no problem getting the discount. He'll need to present his membership card and DL to verify he is a member.

Thanks, Chuck.

As you can probably tell, I'm new to the whole DVC business, but working through the process.

Just trying to save 100 bucks which I will probably spend at WDW anyway, but it makes you feel better when you can score a discount!!!

Our 2 adult children are down as part owners on our deed. They were given blue membership cards in their names at the same time that we received ours.

If they are associate members they will not have a blue membership card and can't receive membership perks.

Well I checked my deed and we did not list my adult kids on the deed as co-owners. Talked to the folks at Member Services and Member Admin. and while I could quickly list them as Associate Members, this does not allow my son who has left the nest to get the discount on the AP. I could change the deed according to Member Admin. but that would require paying off the loan and that isn't an option, besides the paperwork would take too long to get done in time for our upcoming trip.

Member Services was firm that you need to produce a drivers license or state ID card for non-drivers to prove somebody resides with the member.

I'll still get the annual pass for my son, just at the higher rate, but it breaks down to 50 bucks more for each of the two visits we have planned to WDW over the upcoming year or 10 bucks per day as we will be visiting for 5 days each time.

If I keep breaking it down, maybe I'll feel better that I'm out 100 bucks!!!

Thanks to all who replied.
