If I upgrade my ticket to an annual pass what are the main differences with memory maker vs the photo pass that is included? We were going to purchase mm anyway.

1.) Can my family get pictures taken with thier own magic band and will they link and can I download them from my account to my computer? Or will it be an addtional charge?
2.) Will all the ride photos show up or just my photo on the ride I am on?
3.) Can I edit/add borders to the photos before downloading them?

From what I understand, they are the same so "yes" to all your questions.

All photos taken of people on your Friends and Family list will be included and you can edit and add borders to pictures before downloading them. And just to clarify, you're not getting PhotoPass with the AP - PhotoPass is the photo-taking service, which anyone can use at no cost. What you're getting is PhotoPass downloading for free. The difference between the AP download and MM is that the AP download is basically an unlimited MM - with MM, you only have 45 days to download pictures before they're deleted.

Thank you siskaren - I am thinking of purchasing an AP if this is the case. I am wondering if anybody has used free Photopass downloading with AP who has used MemoryMaker in the past and if they have discovered any pros/cons.

Sorry to dig out this old thread - but it is the best I could find via a search...hoping for any experiences...Thanks!

An AP with the download entitlement is better than Memory Maker.

If you have an eligible AP, your photo expiration and download windows are 1 year from the date the picture was taken.

The regular photo expiration window is 45 days from date taken and the Memory Maker download window is 30 days from when you download the first photo.

The photo editing capabilities are the same.

Thank you so very much - that really helps my decision!

I assume you can still do the "magical" shots, and if it really works where everyone in your MDE is linked - then this would be so perfect! That's a Huge Value to me - since I love photopass as a mom - and would order it everytime - even this upcoming trip where we only plan to do a 3-day pass. They capture so many beautiful shots when we are meeting characters that I miss due to enjoying the moment, one kid moving to the next character before the rest of the party, etc.

My daughter's dream when she was 3 was to dance with Minnie Mouse - and she asked Minnie to dance with her - it was so cute and really brought a tear to my eye - and then Mickey walked with her over to Daisy...and we got so many beautiful photos to remember this!

We're AP holders and a party of 11 of us were at WDW in Nov. I added all of them to my Friends&Family list then I gave the adults my user name and password. All the F&F made use of Photo Pass and they downloaded their pics without my involvement.

Yes & Yes it works for everyone linked to your MDE account.

Thank you both - great information!

Hmmm, now just gotta figure out if I buy AP ahead of time - if I can use AP discount for purchasing Disney After Hours tickets - since I won't get my real AP card until I can go to Guest Services. Oh, and to make sure I can use it to book Fast Passes, etc., even though it won't be activated.

Yep, one of the reasons I renewed my DVC AP this year. That is just a really good thing to be able to download for a full year..

We buy Hoppers from Undercover Tourist for the number of days we're staying the first year, make our FastPass+ choices in advance then upgrade to APs the first morning. The moment you upgrade you can use Photopass and since UT sells tickets for less than Disney you save a few $$. The second year we go a few weeks earlier to get in under the APs.

As soon as you purchase your AP you will get the AP discount on everything. It doesn't matter that it hasn't been activated yet. So you can purchase APs online and then immediately make resort reservations with an AP discount, book FPs (following the AP guidelines for when FPs can be booked, unless you are also staying at a WDW resort then you will follow the onsite guest guidelines). You can also immediately use your AP discount for merchandise on ShopDisney as well as tours and ticketed events that have an AP discount.
