AP and Magic bands question.

Hi everyone. I was wondering if there was a difference with the regular magic bands that are sent and the passholder ones? DH and I are planning on getting the AP but we were going to wait a little bit longer, however the time to finalize our magic bands is fast approaching. I was just curious if I should just order them now so they can send us the passholder ones or wait. TIA.

As for the actual MagicBands, they function no differently than one from a resort stay.

The packaging for the Passholder MagicBands also includes a Passholder slider and a Discount Card.

We were at WDW last November, this January and March. We did not receive a discount card or sliders with our bands for any of these trips!

The Discount Card and Passholder Slider are being mailed with MagicBands that are ordered in MDE as an Annual Passholder. They have just started shipping them.

I got confirmation that ours should arrive tomorrow. I do have to say that I didn't even know I had to log on and customize these new bands (my 5th set of bands). I read it here on the boards. So anyone who has a current AP you need to log on and take care of customizing this new set of passholder bands.

I ordered APs and linked them to MDE. Will they automatically be on our magic bands? I thought I had to go to a ticket window, give them my will call number, and I would then receive the AP. I never did receive anything in the mail from DVC, I only have a number. How am I suppose to know what to do

You only get the option to customize and order the AP magic bands if you have an activated annual pass. We ordered ours and my daughter and her family ordered hers but my other daughter and family only have will call numbers linked to their account did not get the option to customize

Neither the Discount Card nor Passholder MagicBands can be picked up at WDW. When you redeem your will call confirmation, your PAPs will be on RFID AP Cards. Once you link the active PAPs to MDE, you can then order the Passholder MagicBands. As for the Discount Card, it's only to get passholder discounts and free parking at the theme parks if your pass includes parking. Only the FL Resident Seasonal Passes don't include parking.

You can use all MagicBands that are assigned to you interchangeably.

Nothing is actually stored on the MagicBands, they are linked to your MDE profile. Your room reservation, admission (MYW Ticket or AP), FP+ selections, etc. are also linked to your MDE Profile. When you scan your MagicBand, it's used as a key to reading what's stored on your MDE profile.

Once you link the active pass to your MDE profile, all MagicBands that are assigned to you have access to that pass for park admission.
