AP and Genie+ issue.. is this still a problem?

I tried to search for recent experience with this and hoping this is not a problem anymore. I read there is a glitch with booking lightning lanes at 7:00 when you have and Annual Pass & room reservations with non-AP ticket holders w/genie+.

I planned to add genie+ after midnight or prior to 7:00 so I can book rides for my family. My husband and kids have regular park tickets that have genie plus already added.

Has anyone had luck with with in the past week or so? If you could not book genie plus in this situation, could you share what you did to resolve. I heard some people can add genie+ after 7 but miss rides/lanes and read some people have to call IT (the button to add genie+ was either gone or gray-ed out).

It’s still an issue. Here’s the info post (with #)
GENIE+ for ANNUAL PASSHOLDERS

- Guests who have an AP and all guests on their reservation have an AP, will be eligible to purchase G+ after midnight

- Guests who have an AP and other guest on their reservation have regular tickets that have NOT had G+ purchased for length of stay, will be eligible to purchase G+ for all guests after midnight

- When Annual Passholders are attempting to purchase Genie+, they may encounter a glitch IF the other people on their reservation have:
- regular park tickets AND​
- those guests purchased Genie+ for length of stay for their tickets​

- If this is your situation, you will not be able to purchase Genie+ for your Annual Pass at midnight. The system will not allow the purchase.

- The best option to fix is to call 1-407-939-4357 before 7:00 am and purchase Genie+ for AP(s). This number seems to be dedicated to Genie+ challenges and does not normally have a long wait time. Purchasing before 7:00 am will allow all guests to book Genie+ at 7:00 am.

- A common suggestion for the AP glitch is for guest services to advise guests to uninstall and reinstall the app. This does not fix the problem. Calling the number above should allow G+ to be purchased. Unfortunately it will mean a call each day you wish to add G+. :(
 
I just returned and was able to do this one morning before 7 am. I woke up at 3:00 am and just decided to try it. I went on my phone and couldn't find the find the purple button (to add genie plus)-- but I was half asleep. I decided to try my husband's phone. He had park tickets/no genie, I had annual pass/no genie. We were rooming with my mom who had park ticket/w genie+ for length of stay.

The purple Genie+ button was there for him and I clicked it and was able to add genie plus for the day for dh, myself and a few others in our party--from other rooms.

FWIW-the other days I went on right at 7 and had no problem adding my genie plus by selecting our first lightning lane and following the prompts to add genie plus for those who needed it at that time. The lightning lane time did not seem significantly pushed pack during the the time it took me to click through the purchase. (helps to have a credit card on file). Really didn't see a need to get up any earlier to try to purchase it. We got Seven Dwarfs and Ratatouille without any difficulty.

Yes, unfortunately this is still a known issue that is happening. You will most likely need to call 1-407-939-4357 each day to add Genie+ to any tickets that do not currently have it if travelling with guests who have already added it for length of stay.

This worked in your case due to having a ticket without genie in the mix

A friend of mine has genie+ on her tickets and I will be visiting WDW with my AP during the same time frame. We are linked through family and friends but we are not on the same hotel reservation (we will be sharing some dining reservations). Does anyone know if this will still cause the glitch to occur?
 
Wondering if this is still an issue as of June 8th…

We didn't have any issues when we visited between 6/4 - today. We are annual pass holders and had same room reservation with non-annual pass holders with genie+. I added the genie+ in the morning around 6:55am and didn't have any issues.

Revisiting this thread to see if anything has changed for Genie+?
Are people still having issues?
I wonder if the new park pass booking tools that allow booking of park passes simultaneously for regular ticket holders and annual passholders will have made a difference?
 
I believe this was fixed back when they eliminated buying of Genie with length of stay tickets. Since that's the only time it was a factor, when you were adding it to tickets where it was already included for length of stay.
 
Good to know, I've not been to WDW since this change was implemented to Genie+ (last trip in May 2022). I hope no others have had to deal with this issue since that time! Lot's of waking up at 6:45AM on vacation days to make sure that our park experience could proceed!
