we just bought ap's to be mailed to us. I understand that it is a voucher and we'll have to have it activated there. Are the lines long to do that? Just thinking that if we need to stand in line for a while, we might need to make adjustments in planning for time that day.
Also, since we bought it with DVC discount, do we have to show our card when we activate?

Yes, you'll need your DVC card and photo ids for all adults.

We've had APs since mid 90s and I've never hit a long line to buy oractivate a card. I usually do so first thing in the morning at our first park. I imagine the lines at Guest Services do get backed up midday.:confused3

We did the voucher-to-AP exchange for the first time last August. Our first park was MK so we went to the Guest Services windows to activate them. There were already about 30 people in line but it moved very quickly. I believe they had 5 or 6 windows open to serve people. Total time from entering the line to leaving with APs in hand was about 15 minutes.

It's been a while since I've had an AP...so when the voucher is mailed and you activate at the parks, your year starts on the day of activation, not the purchase date...correct??? Just a refresher.

Yes, it starts the day you activate the voucher and is good for 366 days (365 + the day it expires).
