AP and AAA discounts

Hey fellow DISers. Anyone feel like telling me about the discounts associated with the AP or AAA? I 've read both get discount rooms although I have no idea how big of a discount. I also don't know of any other discounts with those memberships.
We have left over days on our passes from last year and are buying 10-day passes for our 2 trips this year, but next year are considering APs or possibly membership with AAA if it means we come out ahead $$$. Thanks everybody.

I think AAA offers between 5-15% discounts depending on which season you are traveling in. The AP discount and the AAA prices can end up being quite close depending on what you are buying and when. I did up all the numbers for our July trip and they were literally within $50 of each other. I went with AAA because I really wanted to try the dining plan.

A little off topic, but I had originally done up a food budget thinking that I wouldn't want the dining plan. After hearing all of the Dis'ers talk about how great it was and how much less stress it was I starting wanting to try it. We will end up spending about the same amount of money we had originally budgeted for food, but I won't have to look at prices or keep a running total in my head if I'm under or over budget for dining on our trip! For me, that is worth even paying a little extra.

Good luck! Budgeting a trip can be a pain, but well worth it in the end!

This year AAA is 20% off values and moderates during value season and 15% off deluxe during value season.

During regular season values and moderates are 15% off and deluxes are 10% off. No other discounts during other seasons.

Before you buy AP's though, the discounts are seemingly going to be harder to get and with some strings attatched.

First is you have to have an activated AP or the voucher in hand before it will let you book online. You have to book 120 days or more out and put down a NON-refundable deposit instantly. No more 14 day grace period.

Now this is a new program and supposedly they will do AP's the old way where you can call in and apply the rate if it comes out but the ones who do it the online way I mentioned above will get the first and best rates so the call ins will be very limited and very slim pickings.

I would say if you are going to do AP's for the admission point where it would be financially worth it because of more than one trip or whatnot then go ahead but I would discourage just for room discounts.

Also this year the discounts have been $18 off values, 45 off moderates and 70-75 off deluxe.

And if you have a AAA membership, do you have to book through AAA or can you book through Disney with an AAA membership number? Do you think if I bought my membership now that they would apply the discount to my trip I have booked for September?

A AAA discount on a room only booking can be booked through Disney or AAA. You can also purchase any sort of MYW tickets at the same time. However, if you want to book a room, tickets, and dining as a package and apply the AAA discount, you have to book that through AAA. If you book a package through AAA, there is a parking permit that allows you to park in the closest lot at every park, an admission card to the AAA lounge at MK, and a free luggage tag. They also detail all the AAA savings for you around WDW at that time.

AAA is a great club to belong to not only for WDW discounts, but they have discounts that apply to everyday living and of course the auto service in case of emergency is sometimes priceless. I encourage everyone to consider joining because you can easily find a way to break even, if you just remember to pull the card out and use it.

We just booked our room at CSR yesterday for our trip in December. We will stay in the value season part of the month. Rack rates for a king room are $149/nite, but with the AAA discount applied we got $119/nite. The money we will save on the room more than covers our membership fee. We will also use AAA to book a room for 3 nights in FL before we arrive in Orlando while we visit with Gabby's family. We also plan to use the card at WOD for a 10% discount on merchandise....mainly pins!

Hey Maggie. Thanks for your post. We have checked in to booking our MYWplusDining trip for Sept. with AAA and they are giving us the same quote as Disney. Does anyone out there know if you can get the plus Dining free package plus the AAA discount on room?
