AoA's pool question?

It's not a saltwater pool but uses a salt filtration system which is so much better than pure chlorine.

I really don't know much about the topic to be honest. Just wondering why this is thier only salt water pool?

OK let's go deeper into the function of a Salt water filtration system. A Salt water filtration system actually uses a salt generator that uses salt to generate chlorine. The same chlorine as in a normal chlorine pool.

The other byproduct of a salt water filtration system is it raises the PH level much quicker and must be monitored more frequently.

There really is no real difference other than guests think that "saltwater" pools are cool or don't have that harsh chlorine in the water but they still require it to meet local public sanitary guidelines it just is generated differently.

Interesting. But AoA is the only pool Disney does this with, correct? Could they possibly swap to this with SAB after the refurb?

I have had a regular chlorine pool and switched over to a salt filtration and there is a big difference between the two. With a salt filtration your skin and hair feel so much better and the chlorine smell is not as strong. I read somewhere that said SAB and the Big Blue pool are the only salt filtration pools. As to why? I am not sure but it could be the cost and the massive amount of pool salt that you need to keep them balanced. When we started our salt filtration pool, I needed about 240 lbs of pool salt for our 10,000 gallon pool, I cannot even imagine how much salt is needed for WDW pools.

As stated earlier, the salt filtration system isn't actually salt water like the ocean. It's still chlorine - you just don't smell it as strongly as chlorine, it doesn't fade your swimwear as easily, and you don't have to put chlorine in the pool as often - only shock every now and then as needed.
