Another not strictly Disney question, while we all know how convenient the ANZ travel card is, has anyone had the misfortune to have to dispute a charge?

Please tell of your experience.

I am wanting to book a private tour in NYC and the company wants payment upfront to secure the reservation.

I understand this is to protect them from no-shows and cancellations, but what protection do we have? I understand there is a timeframe to dispute charges but what if the card is charged now and the dispute doesnt happen until October? :confused3

Hi Battymum
can't say cause I am using Travelex
I would definitely check this out with ANZ.
Now I am going to scare you - one of the reasons I chose Travelex is because when i googled for reviews of these products I found that ANZ people were more frequently saying "poor service" than Travelex users.

You could put it on your current credit card - that will incur you an exchange rate fee of a few % and it will give all those cc protections and easy resolution.

I would think that perhaps you speak with the tour company and try to get a feel for whether you believe they are difficult or easy to deal with. After all, if they are the ones who will start the problems regardless of how you pay.

I have organised everything for this holiday online using the visa -but only major companies such as Dreams Unlimited, Royal Carribbean and Loews Hotels for some reason I am uneasy with New York - I feel every operator is out to scam me. I want to support a small business but how do I know they are legit, anyone can set up a website.
I want to do a private limousine / SUV tour - its just really hard to tell which are the legitimate companies - some have pages of glowing reviews on trip advisor from posters that have only ever made one contribution.:confused3

Us to would love to do a Limo tour of New York but was not comfortable prepaying:sad2: for the same reason the only company i found that did have lots of reviews did not have cars big enough for us there will be 7 of us in New York as my Aunty is meeting us there. I am wondering if it will be easier to do when there through the hotel:confused:

What company were you looking at?

I am really frustrated by this, I have asked the question a couple of times on Trip Advisor and dont get any responses. Surely there is a legitimate company that can provide this service.

I would rather pay for this than 5 tickets on the Hop/on - hop/off bus.

How can I find a legit company.

I have found 3 that would suit.
ourtownnewyork.com
newyorkfuntours.com
nycrownlimo.com

Sorry again as this is not a dis question

These are the ones i looked at the second one has various company's but i feel the same as you how do i really know the legitit? We don't fancy paying for something we wont get. The second website address actually offers a few company's to pick from and that is who i was thinking about but again it is a risk actually  there is a thread on NY in the budget board i will ask the question there.
I will try and find the link for the one that had a few good ratings form the UK on it and will get back to you i didn't bookmark it because it wasn't big enough for us.

I have asked over on the budget board here is the link

hopefully we will get someone who has used a few company's to recommend

I have enquired about limotours.com

They have a great price $300 for 3hrs - I have emailed and asked if they are insured and licensed - I know they could tell me anything, but at least they will know I am cynical.

THere website is not the best, frankly it worries me there is not a picture of a limo on it, and old photos of the twin towers :confused3 (I have asked them to send me pix) but the email communication seems genuine.

I can pay by paypal which is good for security - I think I am going to give them a go.

Battymum - wondering if you decided to go with limotours.com? The price seems good but I, like you, get very nervous of how easy it would be to have a website with no real company:sad2:

I think a limo tour would be a fun way to see NY:thumbsup2 I hope everything goes as planned for you!

No - I still havent made a decision :confused3 - would like to do it - but cant bite that bullet.
