Saturday 25th Jan
MGM today woohoo!
Were up early, pastries at Pop Century before catching an early bus as its early magic hour. Were queuing up at 7.30am and chatting to a nice US couple in front of us and theyre staying at Pop Century too small world. They let us in at 8.45 so we wander through some shops. I buy myself a WDW hoody. Were there to see the rope drop and dead on 9am it drops. We synchronise our watches to meet in an hour, and hubby heads for Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, and I head for Muppet Vision 3D. As brilliant as ever it is. I intend to go in again but the queue is rather huge so I dont bother. I head off back to the Hat and find that the Great Movie Ride is open so I go on that. Its really good and I get the cowboy bit of interaction. Its quite a long ride. By the time I come out, its time to meet hubby so I sit in front of the hat waiting for him. He managed 2 rides on Rock n Roller Coaster and 1 on Tower of Terror in an hour not bad. I drag him on the Great Movie Ride and this time we get the gangster bit. Great fun.
From here we head to the Muppets as hubby wants to see the show. I love this show! I get really excited as I spot Woody, Buzz and Jessie getting ready for a character greeting so we both queue up by Als Toy Barn. We have an official picture done of us with them too, its brill.
As I enter the Muppet shop, hubby calls me out as Kermit & Miss Piggy have arrived so we get our photo taken with them and I get a kiss of Kermit.
Back to the shop and I buy a Muppetvision 3D pin and some Mickey Mouse birthstone earrings. On our walk round, we spot a new ride coming together - not sure what it's going to be but it looks good!
We then head off to Who Wants to be a Millionaire and are given fast passes. We grab a drink and some popcorn and sit down, only to find them letting people in after a few minutes. We drink up and pack away the popcorn and head in.
We really enjoyed the show. 2 people got in to the hot seat and got their 1000 point hats. This is a good fun attraction and it must be done.
We came out and decided to see Walt Disney: One Mans Dream. The walkaround is interesting and the film made tears well up in my eyes. There are pictures of the original film posters spread out and we spy one of the costumes from Mary Poppins.
Very entertaining, you should see this. We get fast passes for the Little Mermaid show and hubby decides hes hungry. We look at the ABC Commissionary but hubby doesnt fancy anything so we carry on to the Sci-Fi Dinner Theatre and queue up. Were given a pager and told itll be about 20 minutes. After 15 minutes, the pager goes off and were escorted in. Were escorted to a back booth and slide in. The set up for this restaurant is amazing, what an idea! Were sat in the back booth of a 50s style car which has another 2 booths in front. Theres loads of booths all around the room and then youve got the huge screen showing old adverts for 50s B Movies like Attack of the 50ft Woman, and old Tom & Jerry cartoons. Its very impressive and the atmosphere is amazing.
We have onion rings to start which were fresh, not processed and absolutely huge. Hubby had the reuben sandwich which was corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing in marble toast with chips and I had a burger. Yummy food and a wonderful atmosphere. Id recommend it to everyone. With drinks, it comes to about $35 including tip.
We leave only to find weve missed our fast pass for the Little Mermaid and the next one isnt for another half hour. I want to see the Beauty & the Beast show as I missed it last time so we decide to go to that instead. The 4 guys who warm up are incredible, great fun. The main show is out of this world and makes me bawl like a baby bloody softie!
It lasts about 20 minutes and is so entertaining, the whole cast is excellent. After the show, we head straight for the exit, picking up our photo on the way out. We head back to Pop Century and chill out. We both fall asleep and head for a late dinner at Chilis. We have to wait and told half an hour but it was about 20 minutes and besides, Chilis is always worth the wait! Another wonderful meal have never had a bad one here! My favourite starter of boneless buffalo wings has been pushed into the no2 fave slot and replaced by the new boneless shanghai wings. The chicken is covered in a citrus-ginger marinade and sesame seeds and they are to die for. Even hubby loved them so I had to fight him for them.
mmm shanghai wings!
I had the fajitas again for a main and hubby had the black bean burger. You cant beat Chilis, their food is great value and delicious. The bill is under $30 including the tip. Hubby decides that he cant be arsed to go to Old Town for the classic car show so we head back to the hotel and have a couple of drinks at the bar, then its back to the room.
