Merry Christmas!!!

I only managed 2 hours sleep and was shattered. I’d had trouble going to sleep and then was disturbed by the room at the back of us who’s air conditioning or fan had busted and was clanking and humming all night. I hate it that hubby can sleep through these things! We were woken at 6.52 by Stitch saying no sleeping again. Hubby found a lovely bag hanging on our door handle with a Christmas card inside as well as some sweets and chocolate which I thought was such a lovely idea.

our goodie bag in front of the tree - how cute!

I slowly got ready and we were at the bus stop by 8am. We waited about 5 minutes, by which time the queue grew huge. We managed to find seats on the bus so were happy. We were both amazed by how little vehicles were actually about – we’d both figured Magic Kingdom would be heaving and very early on too. We got off the bus and walked to the entrance. There were no lines at all, which was not what we’d been expecting at all.

The Christmas lights were all lit up for the morning, they looked lovely. We went straight into Exposition Hall so I could pick up the MK and Walt Disney World Christmas pins. We took a slow walk up Main Street and headed straight for Tomorrowland. There already was a 15 minute wait for Stitch’s Great Escape. We carried on walking though as I wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear and the TTA. There was less than a 5 minute wait for Buzz – it certainly wasn’t the 0 min wait it was posting but that was due to the ride stopping. We soon got in our cruiser and hubby got the 100,000 Z and as I was aiming for it, he turned the car around argh! I still say he done it on purpose. The car stopped for a minute or so during the ride but it didn’t take us long to get going again. I got 140,000 and hubby scored nearly 400,000 – bah humbug! As we left Buzz, we saw Chip, Dale and Pluto posing for photos so naturally I had to have my photos taken with them.

The TTA was empty so we went round twice, hubby recording it for me (thank you babes!). Stitch was posing by the Timekeeper ride so I got my photo taken with Stitch for the first time, yay!

From here we headed to the Crystal Palace for our breakfast date with Pooh and friends. We were walking towards Casey's when the trolley full of the Main Street Dancers stopped right by us so hubby filmed it for me and took a few pictures.

I adore these guys and couldn't help but sing along. Once they'd finished, we carried on towards the Crystal Palace. So many people were trying to queue jump and the queue for those without PS's was humungous and people couldn't understand why they were being turned away. Surely it's well known that Christmas Day is a busy one at MK? I can't believe how many people were trying to get PS's. Some people were even joining the PS queue and getting turned away. We were a bit early but we waited and were seated right on time.

Pooh came round straight away so we posed with Pooh.

I went to inspect the breakfast food. Wow, it was impressive! Everything you can think of – yogurts, bagels and cream cheese, fruit, cheese, hard boiled eggs, scrambled egg, vegetable frittata, bacon, sausages, potatoes, hash browns with melted cheese etc. Oh and the breakfast lasagna, not that I tried any. I mostly ate the frittata which was incredible and sausages with a bagel with cream cheese. We had visits from Eeyore and Tigger. I managed to knock over a glass of orange juice at Eeyore due to my excitement and frightened him - hence the sheepish look on my face:
anzneeyore.jpg

Tigger was nutty and was picking up plates and pouring syrup over everyone. The table next to us got served coffee by him. When he came round the 2nd time, he was kissing the ladies’ hands and shaking the mens’ hands.

We finished breakfast after 2 visits to the buffet, paid and then met Piglet for a photo.

part 2....

We stepped outside to find it was raining – and not just a little. We ignored the rain and walked along to Liberty Square to look around. Thankfully the rain soon stopped. I managed to get a photo with Meeko and Pocahontas.
meekoanzpocahontas.jpg

There was a 45 minute queue for Haunted Mansion so we walked back to Fantasyland. The queue for Mickey’s PhilharMagic, well, I’ve never seen anything like it. We grabbed a fastpass and kept walking. 85 minutes for Peter Pan! We turned round and headed towards the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. A 50 minute standby was posted but the queue didn’t look that long.
poohride2.jpg

. Within 30 minutes, we were in our hunny pot. It was definitely worth the wait. We came out of the ride to find it was absolutely chucking it down. It was now time for our fastpass for PhilharMagic. The FP queue as huge and partly outside so we got soaked. We got in to the next show though. I didn’t realise that the fastpass queue had it’s own entrance into the hall before you go into the theatre. As usual, we adored the show. We got a seat on the end and when we go to the other end once the show was over, people were coming in for the next show. So what did we do? We sat back down and watched it all again.

Once we left our 2nd viewing of Mickey’s PhilharMagic it was really raining. I’d never seen it so wet – you could definitely call it torrential rain! We got saturated instantly. We went to the restrooms and headed towards Liberty Square again. Under a walkway was a sea of ponchos and strollers and nobody was moving at all. Rant warning – it was pouring with rain yes but you’re wearing ponchos!!! It drove me mad. Nobody would let us through. Things were getting heated as other people were trying to get through as well. We literally had to push and we got tutted, sworn at etc. Grr, I got quite angry – where’s your Christmas Spirit people?? We eventually made it through and we went to see the Liberty Belle riverboat.
liberty4.jpg

We sat down for 20 minutes just talking and watching the rain. The rain was showing no sign of letting up at all. In the end, we walked back through Fantasyland – everything was between a 40 and 90 minute wait. Fastpasses were being distributed for 5-7pm.

Walking towards Tomorrowland we noticed the TTA had stopped running, as had the Indy Speedway. We took shelter at the bottom of the rose garden near the Hub. I phoned my mum in the UK and we spoke for 5 minutes – apparently it was nice and sunny in the UK, hmmm! Hubby and I waited for ages and still the rain wouldn’t let up. It was a total washout. We couldn’t decide what to do. We had a PS for 4pm at Cinderella’s Royal Table and if we didn’t show up, we’d be charged money. Eventually we noticed the TTA was running and it was quite busy. We decided to go ride it anyway. There was puddles and flooding everywhere and we were soaking from our heads right to our toes. Squishy shoes are no fun!

Stitch’s Great Escape was showing a 2 hour wait, fast passes were for 8pm! Buzz had a 50 minute standby. Even Carousel of Progress had huge queues, as did Timekeeper. The line for the TTA wasn’t too bad. We got on the front car. It was a pleasure going through Space Mountain, it was so warm. Unfortunately as we exited Space Mountain, the ride broke down. Our car attempted to move twice and moved about an inch before rolling backwards again. It obviously took them ages to realise there was a problem – all the other cars were moving except ours! Luckily the cars have sensors which stop them ramming into each other. The cars were backing up behind us, coming out the entrance to Space Mountain in the end. After about 30 minutes, the announcement came over the tannoy that CMs were on the way to help us.

me? cold? what gives you that idea? :cold:

We were all escorted from the cars and lead down some stairs. The stairs came out by the side of Space Mountain at the top of the path from Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

It was 3.30pm so we decided to get soaked and walk to the castle to see if we could check in for our PS. We checked in and waited for 30 minutes as the restaurant didn’t reopen until 4pm. We didn’t mind, it was just nice to be sat in the warmth!
crttree.jpg

We got called in and up we went. We were given a table right by the window, result!

our view!

Our server was great and offered to take our photo.

part 3 coming up.......

part 3 - it's all about the food!

For starter, I had the mushroom soup to warm me up, hubby had the proscuitto and mozzarella.

I'm not drunk here, I'm just freezing cold and very wet!

For main, hubby had the chicken and I had the rack of lamb. Both dishes were delicious, especially hubby’s.

crt3.jpg

For dessert, I had Walt’s Apple Custard bread with walnut ice cream and hubby had the kiddie dessert of vanilla ice cream with a chocolate brownie, chocolate crown and little Mickeys.

King Andy!

The total cost was $80. It was well worth it for our Christmas treat and the view by the window really cheered us up. As soon as we finished, we decided to leave as the rain hadn’t let up at all. We were wet and soggy and neither of us could feel our toes. We must’ve just missed a bus as we were first in the queue. By the time the bus came, the queue was huge. It was nice to be on a warm bus! We headed straight back to our room, clothes off and into a nice piping hot shower! It still took us ages to warm up. I got into bed in the end. Hubby switched on the TV and we found the Sound of Music had not long started, yay! My goodness, it lasted HOURS! Soooo many adverts, it drove us both insane! If I hadn’t loved the film so much I’d have turned it off! It took well over 3 hours to watch it.

Anyway at 11pm, we went to the food court. It was quite busy. We grabbed some diet coke refills and a chicken caesar salad for me. There was so much chicken in it! We got back to the room to find That 70s Show on, woohoo. Once it was over it was time for bed.

Happy Christmas Anz & Andy :)

Gosh I totally know what you mean about the rain that day (hard to forget as it was Dec 25th ;)) It rained solidly and in a torrential way for 6 hours down in Sarasota that day.

You did well to stick it out for your CRT PS!

Your food looks fantastic! Yumtastic, even!

What a lovely day :)

Hi Anz & Andy

What brilliant photos, I too liked the CRT photos as I've never been there, the food looked fantastic.

I know what you mean about the rain, it hardly let up on Christmas Day, we were at Epcot in the morning and MGM in the afternoon and we were soaked through. I don't think I've ever seen rain like it at WDW, maybe a quick downpour, but never all day.

Great report too

I'll just have to try CRT after those pics. Wow! But what awful weather :umbrella: Another good read though; thanks

Looks like CRT has to be added to the "must try" list as well. Doubt I could manage all three courses though - I'd be spoilt for choice!
