Anywhere You have Eaten That You Know You Won't Go Back?

Definitely will not go back to Rainforest Cafe. My kids hated the Cap'n Crunch Chicken Fingers & I thought everything was over priced.

I'm not a big steak eater, but we tired Le Cellier last trip. Everyone enjoyed it, I thought it was okay. I got their chicken, which was actually very good, but I thought it was over priced.
The breaksticks & soup are delicious though.

We have always enjoyed the Cape May Clam Bake Buffet but on the last trip it wasn't all that great. Don't think we'll do it this trip.

I always enjoy reading these threads, but at the same time I hate them. Our personal favorite is Rain Forest Cafe. I think it's because it's a break from Disney, but still fun. Before visiting the one in WDW, we'd never been to another. Now we have visited two others and will be three in April. I love the atmosphere. I can completely understand how a person could hate it, though. It all depends on what type of person you are and what type of meal you are used to. Here are the places that are not favorites of mine and why:

Sci Fi: I don't care for the tables. Is it even possible to sit with your family here? Wouldn't you be looking at their backs if there is more than two? We've only eaten there with two people. The atmosphere is kinda neat, great theming. However, we paid a lot of money for our average meal. DH really liked what he had. I believer I just had a burger, but they were expensive even for Disney terms. It could have been that we ate there for lunch. Lunch is usually not our expensive meal of the day. It didn't have the feel of a nice sit down place, though.

50 Prime Time Cafe: Ate here for a late supper. I was impressed with the menu. I didn't think they had a lot to offer that I enjoyed. More of the home cooked type meals, and I'm not big on those while I'm not at home :D For the wait staff here, they need to have really fun people for the jobs. If it is someone who is just average, it kinda ruins the fun that they try to have. That was the case with our waitress.

Hollywood And Vine. YUCK. Annoying service and food that made me ill. Food didn't seem fresh.
Planet Hollywood - Loud and Food wasn't anything special. Overrated.

We won't be going back to Teppanyaki....

Overpriced for the food and the experience...just our opinion however...

Alfredos in EPCOT - never again

The first time we ate there was in '86 (which was also our first of many, many trips to WDW). Great food, better service, roving musicians = great Disney experience.

Fast forward to the 90s. One lady at our table got sick DURING dinner (she left the table and we heard the details unfortunately). Most recent visit (to Alfredos, not WDW) - March 2000 - DH got sick after eating there. Very sick - the entire next day he was miserable. I'd say that qualifies as an "avoid" restaurant.

All that said, there are many places that we enjoy and no others that I'd avoid. We had a great experience at 50s Prime Time this past December. Love Dole whips.

And I agree it goes without saying ALL food at WDW is expensive. Thankfully, there are many off site restaurants!!
:)

While I try to *never say never*......there are several that I really would have to be desperate before I ate at again....

Cape May Cafe......I'm from New England. Shoulda known better than to try a *clam bake* in central Florida.

Coral Reef.....WAY over-priced, and the food itself was not so great.

'Ohana.....perhaps it was more because my kids didn't like it ..... ).....that and the Poly Luau.....NEVER AGAIN!

Sorry Cindy's fans, but I was completely unimpressed. For all the effort it took to get a PS, I'd have thought the place would be OUTSTANDING. NOT! Food was not great (that cheese danish-french toast was GROSS :o ), the place was small, noisy, crowded...and we didn't even have to EAT there to spend time with the Princess herself!

50's Prime Time.....nothing to write home about. We enjoyed our wait in the lounge more than our meal.....anyone familiar with FRANCIS? He's the best! :p

Some of the more *disliked* venues in this post we actaully enjoy....but more often for lunch than dinner....Value seems to be better then.

AKASnowWhite, you must have had a bad piece of the cheese danish at Cinderella's breakfast. I love it. But, that's why they offer so many different things at WDW. Not everyone loves the same things.

You are right. Not everyone has the same taste, and that's what's so great about the variety offered at WDW! :p

As for the French toast.....I don't care for cheese danish anyway, and I didn't realize that it was a main component of that dish! Oh well, live and learn! ;)

Cap'n Jack's Oyster Bar.....Great location and great idea with lousy service and very stale shrimp!

The restaurant in Cinderella's Castle. That place gave me food poisioning when I was a kid :( My family STILL talks about this!

Aww Chrissy! Getting sick as a kid in cinderella's castle is a terrible thing!

How long ago was this? Maybe give them a chance to make it up to you - I really have enjoyed the food in there and not been ill.

I hope you get a chance to try it again one day

I didn't care for the food at Ohana and The Whispering Canyon Cafe, I think I would skip Donald's Breakfastouras too.

On the other hand, I love:
California Grill
1900 Park Fare
Chef Mickey's
Prime Time
Alfredo's
The Garden Grill
ooohhh I almost forgot
Trail's End (A very good value and good food!)
We also love The Hoop Dee Doo Revue

Rose & Crown - Worst piece of prime rib I've ever eaten.
Coral Reef - Overpriced and mediocre. (Wouldn't have minded the price if the food was better.)
Pinocchio Haus - Bad.

Unlike some other posters though, I will go back to San Angel Inn. We actually had a great meal there, but most WDW restaurants do seem hit or miss. I think we ordered all the hits that night.

I know this is off-topic, sorry, but I feel compelled to say that we always have lunch in France and really love it. I can't imagine how people have decided that the servers are snooty - I've never gone there when we didn't get into a really interesting discussion with the young CMs. They, like the ones at every pavillion, have always seemed eager to talk to you about their country and their experiences in America. Please don't pass it by without giving it a chance - I love the food, and the wine by the glass selection is great!

That said:D - I think that all the restaurants we've ever been to have been fun in their own way. We don't like the dinner buffets at any of the restaurants (except Biergarten and Akerhaus - these have really interesting food - not what you'd expect) and, if we want to experience Chef Mickey's for example, we do breakfast, instead. I really think those dinner buffets remind me of my High School cafeteria food - and they are really expensive!

Chrissy - I would take you in with me - for moral support... we would have a great time!

If you still get the willies seeing the castle - it must have been pretty serious. :(

Would never return to:

Cinderella's Castle (character interaction just so-so, and I agree on the cheese danish - I like cheese danish, but not fried cheese danish!)
Rainforest Cafe - either in WDW or anywhere else
Fulton's - decent food, but the prices are outrageous. If I want fresh seafood I'll just eat it here at home

I don't completely rule out the following, but I have had meals at the following places and was not impressed:

San Angel Inn
Le Cellier
Spoodles
Flying Fish
Brown Derby

Places that we love, and look forward to returning to again and again:

California Grille
Ohanas
Kona Cafe
House of Blues (I dream of the day I can have another Shrimp Po' Boy!)
Marrekesh
Chefs de France
Tony's (we've only had breakfast here, and we've always enjoyed it!)
Mama Melrose
Dole Whips!!! :)
Cape May character breakfast (we're generally not a fan of buffets, but we found this one to have fresh, tasty food)

Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

I think those are cheese blintzes - at least they were last time we were there. They are stuffed crepes that are meant to be fried - not specially deep fried - just kind of sauteed til brown and then eaten with a little sour cream or jelly. I think they're good if they aren't too greasy - I can't remember loving or hating them at the castle.

Would not go back to:
Akershus - I don't like a buffet that seems to consist of all smoked cheeses & fish. Bleh... Plus, a HUGE fly flew right into the white sauce on my plate, and just sat there swimming around. I thought I was going to be sick; that is one of the most disgusting things that has ever happened to me at a restaurant. I know it wasn't their fault that they had gigantic flies that day, but it really put me of, and the food just isn't my style at all.
Jiko - The filet I got there was FULL of bones, which is another thing that puts me off my food. I don't like bones in my fish or insects anywhere near my plate. Call me quirky :) I asked the server how spicy the sauce was, because if it was quite spicy, I wanted it on the side, instead of coating the fish. He told me that it wasn't spicy at all, then when he brought out the food said, "I made a mistake. The sauce is spicy." It really was; I didn't enjoy it at all. The dessert (that peanut butter cookie with runny chocolate sauce inside - forget what it's called) was just mediocre. I'm sure there are some things on the menu that I would like, but there are so many restaurants at WDW that I LOVE that I really don't want to spent a lot of time at Jiko looking for something that I'm okay with.
Breakfastosaurus: I wanted to see Donald, but the food was all cold, and there wasn't a whole lot left of each item. Very disappointing. On the bright side, our servers there were very good & personable, and we had plenty of time with the characters.
Restaurants we love and will definitely go back to:
Cape May Clam Bake
Narcoossee's
V&A's
Beaches & Cream
Fulton's
Portabello Yacht Club
Cheers!

I think a thread on best/worst restaurants is really interesting. It just goes to show that everyone has different tastes.

In our case, the only restaurant I would never think to return to again was Boatwright's for breakfast. I had the stuffed french toast, which was the worst thing I have ever eaten in any WDW restaurant. The other food ordered was the Boatwright Breakfast and it was horrible...eggs that were ordered over easy came out well done, the hash browns were old and hard, looking and tasting as though they had sat under a heat lamp for a few hours. The service was so horrible, we hardly saw our waitress. After finishing our meal we waited more than 15 minutes without seeing her, and finally flagging down someone else to get our check.

Since there are sooooo many restaurants in WDW that I would like to try I know that I won't even be giving BW a second chance.

On the flip side for counter service we love Columbia Harbor House and for sit down we love Le Cellier, which many have voted against.

Can't wait till the next trip, we have both O'hanas and Boma on the schedule!!! We have yet to eat at either, but I am really looking forward to them both.
