as of now we have a 6 night stay at the poly the end of Jan--
wed like to try OKW which the only 2 days that are not open
are right in the middle of our stay--I can get all the nites except for Feb 2 and 3

would I have to book all the other days and wait list the 2 I need

or wait and hope all the days somehow open up

and if I would book the days I can that would mean I have 2 resverations for the same days--
when I need to keep both resverations to see which one I would keep will the 31 days before arrival
so then at 31 days before arrival I cancel the OKW since my days didnt open up and would those points then go back in my UY which is aug
one the other hand say Im very lucky and get all the days at OKW then I would just cancel the days at the poly and then those points go into my UY
sorry about all the questions weve only had the DVC for a few years and all the rest of our trips have been straight forward

Are you using any banked or borrowed points at all currently? would you need to borrow points to make the duplicate res at okw?

Easiest thing would be to waitlist the days you want at okw and stalk the RAT looking to see if the days you want ever become available.

If you are not using banked or borrowed points at all to make the original and duplicate reservation, to try and get the dates that are available at okw to add on to, then if you end up not getting them and you cancel 31+ days out that res, then the points would still be able to be used or banked from the current UY as you have until 3/31 to bank them.

for the poly I used 82 banked points I think I used 39 in current UY. I would use less points by changing

I think I would have enough points to reserve the days that are open. Somehow I get the feeling sort of risky and things would get messed up yet I know a lot of people do this. I’ll keep watching thanks for the help

Are you willing to do a split stay? If so, then book the beginning days and cancel out those same at Poly.

Then use the extra points to book the end nights at OKW.

Waitlist the middle two nights to cancel out all the Poly nights you kept.

This way, if it never fills, cancel those extra OKW nights and you split stay.

It might look like this:

Night 1 and 2 at OKW
Night 3 to 6 Poly
Night 5 and 6 at OKW

Waitlist night 3 and 4 at OKW to replace all 4 Poly nights.
