Anything within walking distance of HIFS?

My parents will arrive about 6 hours before us to HIFS. My mom is going nuts thinking of just sitting there for 6 hours, and so they are thinking of renting a car from the airport and will then have to return it to the airport that night. This seems silly to me, yet I'm not the only having to occupy myself for 1/2 a day...

Are there any strip malls, restaurants, whatnot within walking distance of HIFS?

Sorry, nothing within walking distance.

I'm not sure where all the shuttles go though?

Instead of paying to rent a car, why not just have them take a cab somewhere?

Nothing within walking distance. If they take a cab, the Orlando Premium Outlets is not far from HIFS. BTW, the shuttles go to the theme parks. We have never used them, so I really can't comment anything on them.

Thanks. Well... I'm just going to let them figure out what to do. Dad seems to think he could explore the hotel, watch sports and sleep over the course of 6 hours.. but my mom thinks they will be bored...

At least we know now there is nothing within walking distance..... that's good to know.

If you rent from Dollar at the airport, you can return the car to one of the downtown disney hotels where Dollar has an office.

Can;t remember right now the name of the hotel, but it is listed on the Dollar website.

Oh thanks for that information. I do believe they were planning to rent from Dollar....
