I don't think of it as being selfish. I think of it as my well deserved reward for having to go with other people at other times.
Speak it sistah, LOL.
I was at a party last night and talking about how excited I was to be going on a trip myself to WDW. My last several trips have been all for the people who I was going with, and now it's time for me to have fun. I think some people thought I was weird.

So glad I don't care about such things.
As far as things I do when solo I don't get to at other times :
1) Eat whatever I want, in whatever configuration...sometimes I'm in the mood to get some chowder at Columbia Harbor and a couple of hours later a burger at Pecos...or sometimes skip a meal entirely and have a bigger meal later in the day.
2) Although you still walk through the same space, as a solo it is so much easier to slip in and out of shows, parades, etc. I find I can move incredibly quickly through a park if I really try, which is nearly impossible exponentially the more people you have.
3) I can repeat favorite rides as much as I want...Solo, I might spend 2 hours on the TTA (the nice CM's almost always let you stay on as long as you want), which I wouldn't get to do with others who don't get to go as often.
4) Selfishly (well, isn't this all? LOL), I also like the fact that when it comes to dining or special events, I don't have to consider the finances of others. It's really easy for me to go to three different
MNSSHP or
MVMCP's in one week solo trip since that's just three tickets...I can imagine the decision would be a lot harder if I had to buy 4, 5, 6 or more tickets (hundreds of dollars) at a whack. Same as a nice restaurant for lunch - even the nicer places in the parks I can get away with a great lunch for $25 or $30 (less with the DDE discount). If I had a party of 4 and it was $100+ it might be more of a concern.
I think those cover what makes it different for me...I just have to admit I'm a worryer when it comes to other people's experience when I'm the one planning the trip, and the indulgence of a solo venture is really a bigger treat than I can describe because I'm not trying to please anyone else.
