I can't believe I haven't logged onto the DIS since October 5, 2006.
Anyway . . .

We have not been to VWL in about 5 years.
Have there been any changes since then?

Welcome back!

Let's see. What's new?

They expanded the Roaring Fork food court, quite a bit larger now. The villas have new pillows and sheets, I loved the pillows so much I checked the tag and bought some for home. The 1 and 2 BR now have DVD instead of VCR. AND finally, some current DVDs, a good collection. They were re-doing the main pool area, not sure if that is done yet. They re-faced the 2 large chimneys out in front. Sadly, they have not replaced the ugly sofas! Have a great time!

I think Muushka did a great job covering the changes. VWL has not upgraded the sleeper sofas as many of the other DVC resorts have done. Guess they figure that people don't mind roughing it in the Wilderness! :confused3

The main pool refurbishment is complete as far as I know. Other than that, it is pretty much as you remember it.

Including our friend Ranger Stan who is still plugging along at the WL! :thumbsup2

Enjoy your trip! :)

Yikes! Roaring Forks used to be smaller! That was the one thing that I thought needed improving. We always had to wait for a table each morning. I thought that it was small due to the fact that it is a deluxe resort and maybe they figure people staying there weren't looking for a *cheap* meal. But this place was packed every morning!

When we were there in June we had a studio with a DVD player. We rented movies a few nights.

French Toast Sticks are no longer on the menu at Roaring Fork. They bit the dust with Iger's "eat healthy" campaign.

I know this is a lost cause, and I'm going to regret bringing it up, but the name of the restaurant is "Roaring Fork", without an "s".

It's not a lost cause!! Don't regret it!! There is one thing I cannot stand it is spelling something wrong or not getting a name right! Heck, I even spell check my posts for pity sake!

Please note changes to my post :thumbsup2 .

Groupies are not afraid to admit when they make a mistake!

Thanks! I never noticed it was "Fork" not "Forks" and I've eaten there several times. "Fork" does make more sense (assuming it refers to a stream) but "Forks" is cuter since it congers up an image of some rootin' tootin' cutlery.

For your next assignment, could you please try to take on those posters who insist on calling Boma "Boma's"? Or how about those that insist there is an Irish restaurant in the Poly (you know the one I mean, I'm sure). :teacher:

Yes, O'Hana's!

And calling Palo on DCL Palo's! There are many boo boos.

My personal favorite is....... Going to Disney! (meaning Magic Kingdom):sad2:

Interesting...
I'm just wondering if people do that... implying " 's"... like Roaring Fork's restaurant. Then it gets dropped to Roaring Forks. I think it's pretty commonly done other places too... like when someone says "I'm going to JCPenney's". Well, it's actually JCPenney... and Belk... and...:confused3

I'll admit to being terrible at English... with me, you'll find worse! ;)

In a similar vein, the place upstairs from Roaring Fork is Artist Point, not Artists Pointe.

I'm impressed that you remembered your log on! :rotfl:

In addition to expanding Roaring Fork, they also added a great area to make fresh sandwiches and salads. :thumbsup2

Actually, I don't believe the seating area in Roaring Fork was enlarged. I think it was primarily the service/prep area and they really just reconfigured the layout to make it flow better. They did add the sandwich area where there used to be coolers I believe.

Did you ever see that seating area prior to the year 1999 or so? Teeny tiny itty bitty. I think they expanded the dining area to accommodate the villas (us! )
Oh yeah, it is much bigger today!

They have expanded the seating area twice now. As Muushka pointed out, there was the major expansion somewhere around 2002 when they took out the arcade next to Roaring Fork and added all the sit down seating. Prior to that, there was virtually no sit down seating available other than a few tables inside and outside.

Then more recently they re-did the seating area and put the old fixings bar against the wall, opened up some window viewing and added more tables inside and out. Not as big of an expansion as the first one, but definitely added more tables.

This is why I love this site. I always get wonderful answers to my questions. Sadly, I have had practically no time to plan my trip which is only 3 days away. Thanks for the responses!

Some days I can't seem to remember my name so I certainly did not remember this. The upper right corner oif my screen now says "You last visited: 09-19-2007" which is when I posted this question.
