Hi,

I am from the UK and it is 3 years since we have visited. Last time we stayed at Vistana Resort, a 2 bed and the accomodation was excellent.

We were thinking about renting a 2 bed at the Villages this time, unless of course there is something even better out there?

Thanks
Helen

depends upon you
Hilton Grand Vacation Club - Sw and ID

disney vacation club - OKW, BWV, BCV, VWL, SSR

some of the marriott - not all - but cypress harbour, imperial palms (I haven't stayed here but it gets good ratings)

I will tell you next month if Orange Lake is up there. (these are my opinions)

Thanks - will have a look at the websites.

We are staying first week at Disney WL for first week. We can't afford 2 weeks on-site but will be in need of some room to spread out and a bit of privacy from the kids by then.

We have rented DVC points in the past but we are going April 2006 and that is also going to be very expensive. We will have a hire car included in our package so off-site will be fine, just want it as luxurious as we can afford!

Helen Staybridge suites are also worth checking out, used to be Summerfield Suites, they have 2 1. on I-drive & another in Lake Buena Vista which is just off -site.They hold the acolade for the comfiest bed that I have ever slept on!! SD :paw:

If you are interested in a villa try this site dsnyhomes. We stayed there 2 weeks ago dh, dd 3 and dd 1. Extremely nice with an awesome playroom for the kids!

the fountains aka oasis lakes across from vistana villages once owned by british interests now under bluegreen

we enjoyed our stay there

if you know someone who belongs to RCI they could check for you under extra vacations also....right now they are showing Orange Lake 2 bedrooms for april 29 and 30 checkins at 495$

also you could check out www.skyauction.com especially the Ready Set Go auctions as well as the individual auctions of florida timeshares

Is that 495.00 for 2 days or a week? Just courious because I would like to rent there next August.

That would be for the week. The rates for extra vacations does change depending on the time of the season. I looked at early December and I think the two-bedrooms were $299 for the week. You must have an RCI membership and Orange Lake restricts you to going once every four years exchanging into the resort but the extra vacations may be outside that rule.

What is the difference (pros/cons)if you purchase through owners on these vacation resorts? We booked through HotelKingdom last time so will have to do some investigating if we want a timeshare rental

The various websites would be likely to only have the better resorts at slower times of the year and/or smaller units. Renting from an owner, you could get peak weeks like Spring break and Christmas time. You'll probably pay more from an owner as they want to recover their costs where the other brokers are just trying to keep surplus weeks from sitting empty.

Sites like Redweek.com and myresortnetwork.com are good sites for owner rentals. I have a 3br at a very nice resort listed on both of these for Dec 24 checkin. It's not cheap, but is less than renting a couple of decent hotel rooms at that time of year.

You can also rent directly from many of the resorts, but the costs are usually higher than from an owner. I tried to add one night to my Vistana stay once and even with the "owner's discount" it was quite expensive. We stayed elsewhere that night.
