Anyone's spouse/SO have a "dirty job"? Laundry question!

My DH is a masonry contractor. I just swept my laundry room and swept up 1/4 *cup* of sand from the floor. This does not include the sand that fills my washer's bleach cup every week, the sand that goes down the washer drain, or the sand that ends up in my dryer filter. This also does not include the fine dust that settles all over my whole house, but mostly in my dark burgundy bedroom where it really shows up everywhere.

We bought my DH's grandparents house and I thought it was the weirdest thing that they had a shower (ugly block) in the basement by the laundry area. I guess his DGF would go straight through the side door, down to the basement, remove his clothes by the washer and shower down there. I thought it was nuts and had DH put in a half bath...dummy me!!!

So, does anyone else have to deal with a dirty job spouse? Any solutions? This sand and dust has gotten on my last nerve after 10 years and 3 washers and dryers (it *ruins* them!)

Get a full week's worth of work clothes, and take them to a laundromat. I've worked many a dirty job, adn they all ruined thge washer, dryer, and septic tank.

No, I haven't had to deal with this but gallajo sounds like they have a good solution.

My Dh works with expanded poly styrene. (you know all those teeny tiney beads that they mold together to make packaging and insulation panels) Well, he comes home with all those beads in his hair, in his pockets and in his shoes. It is not as bad as it was when we first got married, but it still gets all over the house, the cars, the laundry etc.
