My DD 10 can be in the Social Studies Fair this year. I figured we would do something she was familiar with : Disney. Anyone tackle this one before? Do we just do the history? Thanks for any advise.

My 10 year old daughter wants to do hers on Disney world also. Funny how we are both from Southeast Louisiana

Well, for SS, I'd say you could do anything from History to WDW culture (how pixie dust is created for each guest) to the cultures represented in EPCOT (do a small project on how each country was created by people from that country, as well as what is done by those from that country who work there, and include the small details that make each country represented *truly* well-represented).
You could also present the theming from any 1 park to describe the culture or historic period each area represents and how it is accurate (or if she thinks there are discrepancies).

If it's like the SS fairs my older son participated in when he was in 4th and 5th grades, here's what I'd do:

Have your daughter research one of the female Disney legends...make a trifold board about her life and her contributions to WDW. Find a photo of her to make the center of the board...and find/create a costume for your daughter to wear that looks like what the legend is wearing.

Then, pick one of the legend's contributions and recreate it using model magic, styrofoam, or other building materials.

In 4th grade my son was Ewing Kauffman and his friend was Muriel Kauffman. They both did the research and were in costume. She made a model of Kauffman Stadium. He made a model of the Royal's World Series trophy.

My DS had to do a state project in 5th grade and he picked out of a hat and got Florida. He loves WDW so he had to to things from the whole state but we made him a Mickey costume and he looked so cute. The people loved it. He was taking pictures with people that came to see his state.

Hi I'm doing some research to help my 10 year old and I'm looking for a picture of Magic Kindgom when they were building it. Any suggestions where I would find one?

edited to add: I would like to find a picture of the land where magic kingdom stands when its just dirt and maybe one of the castle being built

I did my History fair on the history of Walt Disney and animation in 4th or 5th grade (I'm in 11th grade now). My mom was even able to help me contact a former Disney animator, who worked at Hollywood Studios back when they had animators in the Magic of Animation building.

My dd (10) just did Universal Studios. It was a power point but she had to cover History, Interesting facts and how it affects Floridas growth and economics. She did great :)
