How does their managment structure work? Do they have 1 store man & then assists or what?

Do they stock overnight?

Do you know how much they make? around about...

What's their vacation like?

HOw many hours do they put in a week?

We've heard they are a great company - but not sure we trust the girl that says that -LOL she's not the best employee

There's a new one about to be buult - the 2nd withint about 10miles - there's 2 more about 20miles from here...

of course I assume they promote from within - so dh wouldn't stand a chance appliying - but thought I'd ask anyway

Go to the Publix website and click on "Careers". You can choose from manufacturing, stores, pharmacy, distribution etc. It may give you a little insight.

Don't know ahnything personally, but their workers always seem very happy when I shop there.

My DH is an assistant store manager for publix. They have a main store manager, then the assistant store manager and then they have a manager and assistant manager for every department (grocery, deli, bakery, front end, meat, produce). They hire from within, so for example my DH started as a bagger when he was 15, and then he was a stocker, assistant grocery manager, grocery manager and now assistant store manager.

Publix pays their managers fairly well and they have great benefits, like Publix stock. We have a lot of Publix stock that we can cash out when DH retires or quits.

Assistant department managers probably start in the high 30's - low 40's now and store managers make 6 figures. They also get quarterly bonuses. How much they actually make is also determined by how busy their store is. Good managers are moved to busier stores.

They do not stock overnight. They start stocking at 4-5AM everyday depending on the store and they have stockers who close - working until 11PM or midnight.

DH's salary is based on a 55 hour week. He gets 4 weeks of vacation a year.

Publix is desperate for good management candidates. If your DH started as a full-time stocker and did a great job he would probably move into management fairly quickly - it would just be a sacrifice in the beginning. We are always encouraging my brother to start with Publix, but he's not willing to take the pay cut at the beginning.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info - I Pm'd ya...
4wks vacation would be nice! :thumbsup2 is that 'cause of his years there or because of his position?

Years there - he's been with Publix for over 20 years. :goodvibes
