Today I've been getting a recording that says I'm "roaming" and need to include an area code whenever I try to place a call. Mind you, these are local calls.

Anyone else getting this?

We have been having to put in area code for over a year now in our area. Can't remember what started it now. i would call verizon.

Weird...thanks for the replies. I programmed these numbers in the one-touch dialing when I got the phone, so all I've ever had to do was press 1 to get DH's cell phone. Today was the only day I've ever had to dial the area code. If it doesn't get cleared up by tomorrow (DH said he heard something about the towers) I'll call Verizon.

Otherwise, I guess I'll just program the numbers in WITH area code.

do you have to put an area code in when you call from a regular phone? It used to be we didn't have to put the area code in when calling within the same area code but it was changed a couple years ago so that we always have to dial an area code.

I don't have to dial an area code for DH's cell or work phone numbers from home - they're both local numbers. Only on my cell phone, and only today. Since I couldn't get through at first (and I hadn't realized what the problem was) from the cell phone, I called from home and it went right through.
