Anyone with recent Alamo rental experience?

If so, how was the service? Is there still a combined standard/full-size aisle? With the recent changes to the cars listed as standard, I'm concerned that we may not have enough room if there are separate standard and full size aisles. Any feedback would be appreciated!

I also would like to know, as I have a double upgrade coupon. If Standard and Full size are the same, I would just upgrade from a compact instead of a midsize and then take my pick of the standard/full-size isle.

We used Alamo in January and yes, the standard/full-size aisle was all the same cars. I was unsure and had to ask the attendant to make sure we got the car that was on our contract and he said, yes, they were all the same.

Thats great! I just saved another $20 off my rental, $268 for 13 days for a standard car.

Thanks for the info!

p/u our alamo car 4/10 at FLL. Had pre registered on line. Used kiosk and walked to garage where an attendant pointed out our veh type row, (full size). There was an attendant standing by the kiosk to help if we needed it. On the row were numerous full size vehicles along with three or four mini vans, several SUV's and even one Suburban. I ended up taking a nice low mileage dodge Journey mid size SUV. We return on the 23rd and I hope the drop off goes as easy.

We had a standard class booked for pick up at FLL and drop off at MCO using a two car class upgrade from compact. However, they recently had the compact and mid size for the same price, used the coupon to upgrade to the full size from the mid size to avoid confusion. Though we have rented a standard at MCO and never had an issue picking from the full size isle.

So....with Alamo we have a "mid-size" reserved for late August. (Good price at $118 per week base minus $24 in discounts/coupons.) The ressie gives "Pontiac G5 or similar" as example car.

Is mid-sized what is being referred to as "standard" size?? If so, does that mean we will actually be able to pick from a row that has both mid-sized/standard AND full-sized?

If so that would be great! We are a family of 5, and the 3 kids are young teens so we could use the extra space. I didn't want to pay extra though b/c we are staying on property and only using the car for fast trips to a few other resorts for dinners.

Thanks!

There is mid-size and standard and full-size with Alamo. Mid-size is one thing (G5), full/standard are bigger (G6 for a standard and Chevy Impala for a full size are their examples) and just happen to be all combined at MCO.

So without an upgrade, I don't think you will get a full or standard for the price of a mid-size.

There were (or maybe are) double upgrade coupons out there - so you could book a compact but with a double upgrade (upgrade 1 to mid-size, upgrade 2 got you to standard) get a standard or full-size at MCO. That's what we did with our last rental there.

so if you have a double up grade coupon you can book a compact price and when you get there and check in you will be upgraded to two sizes up for the same price?

Yes, but not exactly like you are saying. When you reserve on line using the code for the double upgrade (check Mousesavers, they have all the current codes listed) your reservation will reflect full/standard size, not a compact. If you have a reservation that says "compact" on it, that's what you are getting. So it's not at pickup, it's when you are reserving on the website.
