Anyone with planter wart experience? Update it is gone.

My dd has had them...and they are awful! She has tried lots of stuff, but going to the Dr., having them scraped....then applying an ointment that the Dr. gave her, and use duct tape. Thats what worked best for her, but it took forever for them to go away completely.

my son had a very large one and we had been treating it with the meds for a long time. It had gotten smaller and harder, and the top would peel off, but it wasn't going away. He was on a field trip when it started pouring raining, and his sneakers were soaked through. He walked most of the day in the wet sneakers. When he got home, and took off his shoes, they were VERY pruney and wrinkled. Since the skin was so soft, I told him to let me try to peel back the top of the wart so I could reapply the medication. When I grabbed it with the tweezers to peel it back, the entire thing popped out since his skin was so soft. I had no idea how deep those things go! There was a crater in the pad of his foot deeper than a 1/4 inch and the diameter of a large pea. It never returned and he's never had a problem since.

DD 10 had a plantar wart on her toe. We tried all the home remedies and otc's for 4 months. We went to the dermatologist. She prescribed WartPeel. It's a prescription strength salicylic acid. We put it on every night with a piece of tape, took the tape off in the am. Within 3 weeks the wart was completely gone. No pain, no scar, nothing.

Med was $$, $60 I think and my insurance didn't cover it but it was worth every dime and we have plenty of med leftover if anymore pop up.

duct tape! My girls each had them on the bottom of their feet at different times.

Put the duct tape on and leave it on until it falls off. (that means have your child sleep in it, shower in it, etc.) File the wart and put new duct tape on. It will smother the wart.

I, too, have a natural remedy. Last year, my 7 year old daughter started to take gymnastics. As a result, she developed the lovely, large wart on the bottom of her toe.
We had a trip planned for Disney in February and I feared that her wart would negatively impact all the walking we would do at Disney.
I tried to be proactive and took her to the doctor in January...the doctor froze it but the wart remained. As the visit cost me about $300 ( we have a high deductible health plan and are responsible for the first $4000), I was not going to go that route again.
We tried cutting it, but understandably, could not get my daughter to cooperate.
Out came the natural remedy books and we found this one...each night, we would soak her foot in warm water with some vinegar added to it. Immediately after the soak, dry it, slather it with castor oil (found at Walgreens) and wrapped it with a bandage. We would leave the bandage on for the rest of th night and take it off in the morning. Each night we would repeat this same process. Within about a week and half , the wart was completely gone.

I think the key is suffocating the thing...especially after reading these emails with the different natural remedies, that seems to be the common factor.
Good luck!

I use a cotton ball soaked in vinegar ducted taped to my foot. I will do this at night until it goes away. It works like a charm. I have tired all over the counter and doctor treatments but this has worked the best.

This was my technique as well. Cotton balls soaked in apple cider vinegar secured with duct tape. I had one on the bottom of my big toe that hurt so bad and the podiatrist refused to touch it because he thought it was risky being so large and close to a joint.
After two months of hobbling and my Disney trip fast approaching I got desperate and tried everything. This method was really painful at times (agreed on the worse that being in labo/childbirth comment!!) but it shriveled and fell out in about a week. Totally worth the temporary pain and I had a great trip! :cool1:

Used to have them years ago, fortunately they weren't painful just annoying. I never did anything to them. They went away by themselves and I haven't had any for 25 years.

I was a dancer and dance teacher a few years ago and often danced barefoot in the studio. This meant I often ended up with planters warts. I saw several podiatrists about them and had them cut out, frozen, and so on and they always came back. I finally saw a doctor who told me to make large batches of strong tea (several tea bags in the water) and soak my feet twice a day. I was skeptical but after about two weeks all of my planters warts were gone and I had had one of them for years!

I have no idea how this works but it worked for me and several others that I have told about it. It never hurts to try and the foot soaks felt wonderful after being on my feet all day.

Good luck!

Definitely going to try this! I have tried everything but can't shake a plantar's wart that I got when I was pregnant with DS (6 years ago!).

Any special kind of tea? Black tea?

It's weird everyone talks of walking barefoot giving them plantars warts. I go barefoot whenever the weather is over 60 degress and despite DS having a foot full of the warts I have never gotten them. The doctor blames them on a virus that his body can not shake but said my body has immunity to the virus and that is why I don't get them. Who knows. Anyway, started the tea tree oil on on of DS's warts last night so we will see if it works.

I have read that Tea tree oil is not good for boys. It does something to their hormones.

Apple cider vinegar works. Put it on a cotton ball and tape it to thefoot overnight. It will be gone in 1-2 weeks.

Subbing...and making a list. We will start with the compound w and duct tape method. If in two weeks, it has not worked then I will try something else on the list. Of course...I think I will cross tea tree oil off the list-just in case that information is true. :goodvibes

When I was 24, I had no insurance and a wart in my toe that hurt so bad! I went to the podiatrist who would cut it off and charge me $100 every week. Finally after 2 weeks and $200 later, I decided to do what she did and cut it off myself! So I got a razor blade and sterilized it with a lighter, cut the wart off and soaked it in idodine. I repeated this for a week until it was gone! Sounds gross but it really didn't hurt much as our feet have extra skin. You just need to cut the wart off, it might bleed a little but that is a good sign because you have to kill the wart. And just make sure to clean the wound with peroxide or idodine so it doesn't get infected.

Risky. I might do that to myself, but not my kids. The same surface that you got the wart may have staph. We have had those too and they can be dangerous.

Plantar warts are painful. From my experience of , probably 6 warts, I recommend going to the doctor and getting it over with. Two weeks of trying home remedies is two weeks of unnecessary discomfort.

My DD brought back plantar warts from Girl Scout camp (she was supposed to wear flip flops in the showers, but I bet she didn't.) The dermatologist put a topical solution on them, slapped a bandaid on them, and a few days later they started coming out (she ended up just picking them all out.) Craters in the feet, but like others have said, no bleeding, etc.

Luckily she's never had them again but they say once the virus is in you, you will keep getting them.

This is the only thing I think we have not tried but I am going to and hopefully we will get some results. :thumbsup2

Good luck! I hope you can get some relief. They sure are painful!!!

Any special kind of tea? Black tea?

I just used regular tea bags. I would toss like 5 of them into a large bowl with water and heat it in the microwave until it boiled. Then I would pour it into a foot soak container and add some ice cubes until it was the right temp. After googling it looks like ppl sometimes just hold a wet tea bag over the wart for 20 minutes but if you are doing all that you might as well just do the relaxing foot soak lol.

Good luck!

Duct tape.

No joke. I had some for years, cut small pieces of duct tape, put a band-aid over top and they were gone fairly quickly.

:thumbsup2 Works!!!! My daughter did it. We would put a new piece on every few days but it works great. They just go away.

As your trip is 12 weeks away ,I would go and get the wart frozen off now. If your home remedies fail you will be up against it in terms of healing, if you have to get it excized or frozen. I looked this up for you.
"Using tea tree oil on the skin in large quantities may lead to serious reactions because of absorption into the body. According to the NIH, animal research has shown side effects including difficulty walking, muscle tremors, poor coordination and weakness.

Gynecomastia
Topical tea tree oil has been linked to breast enlargement (gynecomastia) in healthy prepubescent boys, according to a study published in the Feb. 1, 2007, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). Three boys developed gynecomastia after using products that contained lavender and tea tree oils, and the disorder disappeared soon after the boys stopped using these products. The study notes that both of these essential oils have estrogenic and anti-androgenic properties."
Hope this helps.:wizard:

FWIW, my doctor TOLD me to use the home remedies and drugstore stuff. He says that cutting/freezing doesn't work in many cases, so it's best to start with the at-home stuff.
