My son has just been asked to start working with the level 4 team. He is going to ease into it, but I haven't had much time to talk with the coach yet.

How many hours a week will they be expecting him to practice?
How much $$ is this going to cost me?
I'm assuming he'll need grips and a uniform eventually?
How long are they usually at a level until they are expected to compete?

He enjoys going, but I'm not sure he's ready to make the time commitment.. he's 7. :)

He's just getting his round-off-back-hand-spring move down.. so fun to watch! (Thanks for letting me brag):worship:

Thanks!

My dd is 6 and she is on a competition cheer team (think ESPN Cheer not sideline rah-rah LOL). We pay $250 every 2 mos which includes team practice 2x per week & unlimited tumbling classes and 1 conditioning class per week. She practices a total of 6.5 hours per week. We pay a $450 all star fee once per year and then each competition fee is btwn $120-160 (5 per year) plus all our travel expenses. Her competition uniform is $350 and 3 practice outfits are $110 total with sneakers an addt'l $75.

She is able to do roundoff-bkhandspring back tuck combos & just got her standing back tuck. I would think that the fees would be comparable for the lessons etc. We are on Long Island, NY so it may be higher than other areas since it seems we live in the most expensive area on the planet LOL.

Congratulations on your son's success!!! Good Luck to you both!

My DD started Level 4 last fall (Oct/Nov). We are in New Hampshire.
At her gym Level 4 practices twice a week for 1 1/2 hours ($135/month)
She did her 1st meet, outside of our own gym, in March and then one other in June.
We have to pay for her meets ($50-$75 for the ones she went to).

Her leotard cost $45, not sure what a boys uniform would cost. Our gym doesn't have team "warmups" (pants/jacket) until Level 5, so I'm not sure about those yet.

She is starting the training for Level 5 now, she do two 1 1/2 hour practices for the summer but then I think she'll go to two 3 hour practices.
