Anyone with a good Murder Mystery novel recommendation

I really like Tami Hoag's Oak Knoll series. They take place in the 1980's when much of the crime scene analysis and subject profiling techniques were barely invented or nonexistent so they're kind of like Pre-Pre Criminal Minds-ish.

If you like historical fiction, try Kate Morton. Her novels take place in the present day with a mystery from the past (usually Edwardian to WWII Britain) influencing the modern day characters. I've read them all (there's only five); The Distant Hours is my favorite, but all are worth reading.

I also liked Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I didn't care for Gone, Girl (but liked the movie). She wrote another but the title is escaping me. It's good too.

If you like romantic suspense:

Karen Rose
Melinda Leigh
Elizabeth Lowell
Sandra Brown

Well, my all time favorite murder mystery was probably "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie.

If you are looking for something a bit lighter, I've liked these series:
the Hannah Swensen Series - Joanne Fluke
the Mrs. Murphy series - Rita Mae Brown
The Cat Who... series - Lilian Jackson Braun

The best book I've read lately with a mystery element was "The Lake House" by Kate Morton. I really loved it!

I also like Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen series as well as her regular murder mystery books. Another series I enjoy is JD Robb's In Death series. The first book is Naked in Death. I can't remember if the Stephanie Plum series has a murder in every book but the first one is called One for the Money and it is by Janet Evanovich. I also like Sue Grafton's alphabet series.

I'm going to have some time on my hands soon and I'm looking for a good murder mystery novel to read. Anyone with a recommendation?
New Year Island by Paul Draker. A little long but I could not put it down.

Try theses authors

Mary Higgins Clark
Michael Connelly
Tess Gerritsen

Great Authors IMO

I love Anne Perry. She has two series. The Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series is set in late Victorian England; the first of this series is The Cater Street Hangman. The William Monk series takes place in the mid-1800s in England; the first of this series is The Face of a Stranger.

In a slightly lighter vein, Susan Elia MacNeal's Maggie Hope series is very good.

Queen Colleen

I love the Kurt Wallander series written by Henning Mankell. He has some other books that are not part of the series but are also quite good.

If you like historical fiction, try Kate Morton. Her novels take place in the present day with a mystery from the past (usually Edwardian to WWII Britain) influencing the modern day characters. I've read them all (there's only five); The Distant Hours is my favorite, but all are worth reading.

Dark Places

Oliver Pötzsch writes a series that starts with The Hangman's Daughter set in late 17th century Germany. They're highly addicting.
