Anyone wishing to join over-packers anonymous?

Hello, my name is Tara. I am an overpacker.:goodvibes We have over a month left before our trip and I have been gathering stuff for months. Not packed yet tho.:thumbsup2

my hubby always wonders where do I put it all. He told me once he thought our suitcase had a false bottom because I got so much stuff in it. I take things out of the original package if I can, I merge stuff you name it and it still doesn't make the bag heavy. He just wants to throw everything in the bag the day of. Not going to happen buddy, there is a method to the madness and it involves you not doing it.

:lmao: why do some men think that it is actually ok to just empty the dresser drawers into the suitcase???

King and Queen of over packers here. We are leaving in 2 weeks for an 8 day stay at the world. I started packing 1 month ago. For my daughter I have packed 12 short outfits 9 dresses 3 swim suits and 5 pairs of shoes. For my self I have packed 14 tops 6 capris/shorts 2 skirts 4 dresses 3 swim suits and 4 pairs of shoes. And God only knows what my husband is packing...:scared1:
My name is Larisa and I am a over packer I need help...

Yes, I am an overpacker too. I just got back from a 3-day trip to a small amusement park/water park, and the back of our van was stuffed!

On an off-topic note, I have a niece named Larisa. :) It's such a pretty name, and I've never met another spelled the same way.

Oh yes, I am in that club, but now that we have to pay for every single checked bag, including the first one, I will be totally paring it down and planning on laundry while there.:laundy:

UG - do the value hotels even HAVE laundry?!?

Our first trip to WDW was horrendous with packing. We had 4 suitcases, 4 carry ons, 2 Britax car seats, a stroller, and a 3 and 4 year old....all for the 2 of us to carry. We had to get really creative!

This next trip we will aim for more like 3 suitcases total!! It may be impossible :confused3

I am an overpacker tooooo!!

but it's okay, we drive so as long as the doors shut we are good to go! :lmao:

we went to Kings Dominion for a day trip last summer and when we got there found out the tickets were buy one day/get one day free.. I told hubby we should do it.. I had enuf stuff for us to all change clothes and something to sleep in.. the only thing I needed was a hotel.. and there was one pretty dern close so we stayed and it was a blast!

Sign me up!!
We just got back from a 6-night trip to Disney. It was me, my DS6 and my parents. We had 4 suitcases, plus 4 carry-ons and a stroller. Doesn't sound like much, but when the suitcases are as big as your child, it does pose quite the logistical nightmare! I was VERY glad I had squirreled away an envelope full of $5 bills...I felt like I was handing them out left and right to the porter, bell services, etc.
My problem is that a lot of what I pack is "just in case". All sorts of OTC meds, for example. I ended up having to do laundry because I had to take clothes out to pack all of the "just in case" stuff! :lmao:
My other problem is the stupid carry-on!! By the time you pack the extra outfit (just in case!!), the "lovey" (because heaven forbid it end up someplace else!!), the GPS (since it can't go in the checked baggage), snacks, and stuff for both myself and the little guy to do, my carry-on weighs a TON!
We sat across from a girl at the airport who only had her purse. I was so incredibly jealous!!

I agree with the pp who called it her "Mary Poppins" bag! :thumbsup2

Thank You...Really I have never seen it spelled this way. My mother was sure I was a boy and if it weren't for the movie Dr. Zivago (she watched it the night before she delivered me) my name would have been John Michael. :rotfl2:
