So far we've been lucky. The few little showers we've had this last week do seem to help us though. I know many co-workers have been complaining about the dry grass too. I hope for rain... but ONLY during the week
I WILL NOT water after my last bill. For 6 months I paid $326.00. I still shower alot but if the bill is any larger when I get the next one no more showering, flushing the toliet or washing dishes and clothes. LOL I am joking but the point here is the grass can turn to a golden brown and I won't mind.
We do, but we're on water restrictions, even numbered houses one day, odd the next...We live on an island and there isn't really soil, it's kind of sandy, so if you don't keep some moisture on it the lawn just looks horrible...
We are actually happy that we have only had to water 4 times so far this year-thats pretty rare out here and we did not figure we would have lawns at all due to the drought but we had this little snow storm in march that saved us.
DH is watering as we speak! We had a wet spring but now it is dry, dry. dry!! We want to keep the grass green but we also just planted several new baby trees and they are looking droopy. We always had in-ground systems in the south, here we just use sprinklers on the hose. Lots of folks here just let the grass go brown.
Naw, we don't really have to water out here. It rains frequently enough to keep it all pretty green. We usually water our garden by this time though but this year we've had enough rain that we haven't used our well or our water tanks at all. (We live in a region with lots of caves because of all the limestone so unlike practically the rest of the US it's not safe for us to drink our well water but we can use it on the garden)
When I lived in NJ, grass was NEVER watered. And brown grass was ok. Here in FL, if your grass turns brown, your HOA sends you a letter telling you to replace your grass. I had a break for a couple weeks where I DIDN'T have to water it. Looks like I'll soon be watering again.
We've been watering our new lawn for at least 18-20 hours each day for the last week since it's been so hot, dry and windy so my water bill is going to be enormous. Hopefully in another week we can cut down but I'm not letting 2200 sq. yards of sod die! It's a real pain but with over 40 sprinkler heads it takes a really long time to cycle through them all! I'm praying for rain but it is not looking good.
