I 100% believe the boy in this situation. I personally have had friends who would have done ANYTHING to sleep with the "star" football player in our school. Stupid? YES! But does it happen? All the time!

I think this is the case with this girl. I agree with the majority of you about the crying, lying, being scared, etc. I really believe that this girl is lying about the whole thing to save her butt from her father!

Now this is what really made me just throw my arms up in the air. When Oprah asked her, "Is your father racist?" the girl said something like, "my daddy has lots of colored friends."

Now I don't know about you all, but the fact that anyone would call African American's "colored people" is a big ole red flag! JMHO. I think she has gotten herself so deep in this lie, and she doesn't know how to get out of it at this point.

I remember reading about this story in "People". Made me feel very sad for the boy. If I remember correctly, he was getting his life back on track, right?

I didn't even have to see the show to know the girl was lying. I could tell by reading the article.

I heard about this story a while ago through e-mail and it saddens me so. Watching his parents on Oprah today made me so sad. The thing is they got him on a technicality, like "we need to get this kid, let's get him with anything we possibly can" for whatever reason they had, it is still wrong IMO. Hopefully this will all be overturned someday very soon. The only thing that worries me is that when this is all over and his record somehow will not be expunged. Being charged with aggravated child molestation means Marcus will forever have "child molester" on his record and be subjected to the laws for pedophiles, such as having to notify communities where he lives and be classified as a sexual predator. this incident didn't just ruin his football career but it will affect him for the rest of his life (not saying rape doesn't affect someone, I'm 100% sure it does, I'm just not getting into that in this post, before anyone flames me)

Why??? It's still a fact. Believe me, I think lots of people would like to think it no longer exists but take my word for it, IT DOES.

Robin -- I absolutely agree that racism is a fact, but it's not limited to the South or to small towns.

Kallison -- There are a lot of good ole boys running around, but MOST (not all -- I know that) don't have a lot of power.

I find the statement offensive b/c that's how the South is portrayed in movies and TV. Because of that, there are plenty of people in this country who think that's exactly the way we are. Of course, there are racists here, but there are plenty of us who abhor them and who don't think they represent our communities.

She's lying.
A lot of 'boo-hooing' and not a tear in sight! Plus she recovered very quickly after each breakdown and as has been said..if one was raped I am quite sure it would stay with you for a very long time.I say her Father is a major Bigot and she's scared to death of him knowing the truth.

Poor guy...he pays the price for her Father's ways.
