Anyone watching CNN with the Live Interview of the Mother that beat her child?

EROS...exactly what kind of Doctor are you?

EROS, I may disagree with some of the things you say-like some things on this thread;), but I'd let you be my doc, well, not my GYN, and I'd have to ask you to keep your hands off my coconuts, but I believe you are a good doc.:)

What I don't understand though EROS, is why you have so much understanding and tolerance for a parent who would physically beat and emotionally abuse their child out of anger, yet you show little understanding for people who are expressing anger over seeing such a horrible incident. I don't get it?

I agree again with you Saffron!!! It must be a double standard that we were aware of.

Thanks, SAFFRON:D :D . People have a RIGHT to be angry about what they saw; I felt the same revulsion and disgust.

It's the usual HEH vengeance and bloodlust that I see that leaves me feeling so dismayed. I'm no Christian (LOL), but I feel that I have more compassion in my little finger than some of the "do-gooders" around here. Yes, I feel the same about murderers, rapists, armed robbers and the like. They DESERVE to be punished, but they don't need to be hung in effigy or demeaned.

It's all about one's sense of humanity..........:) . We went through the same discussion when DAN MURPHY recently posted the "GOOD NEWS" about a death sentence verdict..........

My, I didn't know my thread would cause such a stir. Now we have Shannon telling Eros to keep his hands off her coconuts.

I second what the brown-eyed girl from Georgia said. :):):)

EROS eases the suffering of others every day. How many of us can say that we do the same? And isn't that the calling of all Christians - to ease your brother's suffering? It's interesting to me that EROS the non-Christian acts more Christian than any of the rest of us could ever hope to.

I wonder if you could repeat your opinion one more time Eros? I'm not quite sure where you're coming from on this. . .

Thanks! :)

I believe Eros to be a very compassionate human being as do I believe firmly in the compassion of those who seem to think otherwise.

As to his credentials as a doctor-I see no reason to doubt them. In fact, his viewpoints seem to indicate a kind of worldliness and empathy privileged to those who've had to serve people who've suffered misfortune, of their own doing or otherwise inflicted, and serve them with compassion-even when that compassion might be difficult to conjure.

If ever anyone here found themselves grievously erring in judgement and action, I think EROS would be the first to lend a hand in helping you regain your own humanity.

This type of reaction from Eros fits him to a tee IMO. It's no different than when he expresses distaste for those who applaud capital punishment. He dislikes the idea of killing ANYONE if I read his words right. (Eros?)

I also see no reason to doubt that he's a doctor any more than I would doubt almost anyone else here being what they claim to be.

Yeah! What he/she said!

(Eros, if you're not a dr, you've been spending WAY too much time in medical school.)

Abuse takes many shapes and leaves many scars. I saw the tape briefly, I saw the interview briefly both disgust me. While I would never judge her, it's obvious this woman has a problem controlling her anger, it's also obvious it's not the first time this has happened.

When you've had time to think about an answer to your uncontrollable behavor and you find excuses and no apologies, you defiantly need some serious counseling.

There are no excuses for the behavor we witnessed on a tape.

LOL! Vicky, it's not like I asked EROS to have my alien love child or anything.;)

And I wouldn't let him be my GYN because I like my GYN.:)

Shannon,
Maybe Eros is a Plastic Surgeon and you were concerned he'd give you the "Pam Anderson" look.

Since we are guessing anyway, I'll guess prison psychologist!:D

Can you say 'reverse transference!!'

Just thought I'd say, just because you see a psychologist doesn't make you a psychologist. :D

I figure myself a pretty compassionate person, but quite frankly, I don't care what happens to this woman. I don't want to see her hurt, I'm just ambivalent about her in general. My concern and compassion lies with her daughter, in that she never has to witness another beating from her mother like the one we all saw on tape. If that means the child is taken from the mother forever, so be it.

I agree, I don't really give a crap about the Mother. That little girl needs to be in a safe place, and that's NOT with that woman who calls herself a mother.

wow, interesting thread. Anyway...

I was mortified and sad to see that tape. A child should never, ever have to go through something like that. It made me cry.

With that said, this woman needs to be dealt with appropriatly as the law allows and hopefully a judge will throw in some mandated counseling. Hopefully, she will want that counseling and it will make a difference.

I believe, as humans, we have all done things we are not proud of, actually down right ashamed of. I know I have. None of us can stand here and judge another. It is so easy to do though, it's something that I try so hard not to do, but it happens.

I am praying for this little girl, her siblings and her mother.
