I don't usually watch that show but my Mom asked me to record it for her. It was about the girl in Aruba who went missing. Dr. Phil is trying to get people to boycott Aruba. I have never been to an Island and ESPECIALLY now I have no intentions on visiting Aruba or anywhere else in the Caribbean.

I think everyone should boycott. If you saw the show today you would understand why...

I will stick to my WDW vacations.. I can visit the Caribbean Beach Resort and "pretend" Im in Aruba.

I agree with the boycott of Aruba simply out of respect for the Holloway and Twitty families. I have followed this from the beginning and saw the Dr. Phil show today.

I was just going to ask if anyone watched it.

Oh my............ so scary! I only watched the 1st half and will watch the 2nd half tonight.

While I understand the emotion behind the call for a boycott, the only ones a boycott hurts are the "little guys". And it's not really fair to punish the whole island for the bad police work. Does anyone remember about 10-13 years ago when tourists in Florida were getting shot? What would we have said if a TV personality in England told everyone to boycott Florida because the police there can't keep you safe?

I dont remember hearing about tourists getting shot in Florida, thats horrible. I guess I feel like we should boycott Aruba because I dont trust them, I guess because its not in the USA. It doesnt seem like they care enough.

How about I boycott Aruba and Dr. Phil. That guy gets on my last nerve.

LIke I said.. I DO NOT watch Dr. Phil nor do I care for him.. I do care for the girls who are missing and thier families.

The "little guys" put pressure on the big guys and something is done about the way that this case was handled from the "get go" up until the present time. I fully support the boycott.

If we boycotted every place that had unsolved missing person cases, we'd all be staying home. I did not see the show, but this story has had so much coverage.

My SIL went to Aruba in Oct., they had a good time, no problems.

Now I am not in any way blaming Natilie so please don't take this that way. I think it would be better if we educated our children on what to do when they are on vacation anywhere. Stay with your friends, never go to a bar alone. Make sure you all leave together. Don't leave your drinks unattended, don't accept a drink from a stranger. That sould apply even when they aren't on vacation. Her family could be using some of their TV air time to encourage kids to do this. It might save someones life.

And before anyone thinks that Aruba is the only place with bad police work, just remember Jon Benet Ramsey.

This appears to be more than "sloppy police work". There seems to be enough evidence of obstruction and a coverup. I have no doubt that your SIL had a good time in Aruba. Its a nice place. I had a good time in Aruba when I went. That was before the Natalee Holloway disappearance. I will not be traveling to Aruba again however until the Aruban authorities step up to the plate and do the right thing. All three of those boys have confessed on tape to having sex with Natalee while she was in a drugged condition. Have they been charged with rape? Nope. That's still against the law in Aruba.

If they do have such a tape then they should be charging them. I could be wrong but I thought that this was told to one of those TV "insider/extra" type shows by the one boy when he went back to Holland to go to school. Which contradicted what he had told the police in Aruba, that he had not had sex with Natalie.

Two German tourists were shot and killed at a rest area near Tallahassee. Mom & I happened upon it while the police were there, it was our first driving trip to Florida. It is the reason there are guards on duty in the rest areas. It was about 1993 or 1994.

Wow, two threads about boycotting Aruba?

Maybe this will cause prices to drop in Aruba. Which could end up attracting more tourists. You just never know what kind of effect these things will have.
