Anyone watch Boardwalk Empire?

The book seems way different than the show... I wanted to read the book first.

I watched it too but I guess I was just too tired. I'm going to have to re-watch it because I know I really wasn't paying attention and it had a lot going on. I will tune in to see what happens next week but its no True Blood.

It should be good. The first episode introduced us to some of the main characters, so it was a little slow in parts, but should pick up from here on in.

I thought it was good too but there was too much background music-we get the time period already. Did anyone else think it was interesting that there was a store on the boardwalk that had incubators with babies in them? I think that the historical part is very interesting.

My wife and I really were looking forward to this show.... after watching it, we gave it an "it's OK". Certainly not as "must see TV" for us as True Blood.

I absolutely agree. I think there was a lot of hype about this show, and especially since True Blood is good and has such a following people just assumed it would be great too. I liked it but I had to watch it a 2nd time to really get all the stuff that was going on.

Yea what was up with the babies in incubators like it was a shop of some sort? Shouldn't premature babies have been in a hospital?!?:confused3

I read on another board that until the 40's, preemies were just left at home:sad1: so those storefront incubators saved a bunch of babies.

My grandmother, who would be 87 now used to tell me all of the time about the babies in the incubators in Atlantic City. It fascinated her when she was a young girl. Also, she knew it saved many lives. When I saw it I called my dsis and asked her if she wasw it yet and saw the incubator babies.

BTW - I live near AC and the buzz for this show around here has been big. I was expecting alot and quite happy with it. I can't wait. I saw Fralingers Salt Water Taffy there also. While they are a bit loose with some facts the details are very thorough.

I can't help but wonder if there's a viewer out there going, "Hey honey, come lookit this! It looks like the place where we stayed at Disney World!" :upsidedow
