Anyone want to take a guess at Southwest pricing when they open tomorrow?

Southwest's new booking window came up at about 6:10am eastern time. I booked immediately- two reservations through my rapid rewards account, and then one through DH's. By the time I'd finished the reservations and went back in at 6:30 to add EBCI (didn't do it originally as I wanted to get the reservations quickly), I noticed that the prices had increased. I know I am flying from a small airport, with limited flights every day, but I thought that was pretty fast for a price increase.

I was able to get $112 ea. way out of Providence for both our August trip and our October trip this morning!! We had enough points to cover all 4 of us in August so only had to pay for October. I was very happy with $112...haven't seen fares that low for us in a while. Speaking of points, this was our first time booking this way. DH had enough to cover all of us but I was surprised we all have different confirmation numbers. I called Southwest to ask if they could link us so we're not boarding all over the place but they said they couldn't..is this true? Anyone know?

I'm wondering if I might not have been on the ball this morning? I got online at about 6:30 am, and booked our flights from BUF ($246). They were not the *cheapest* flights of the day, although I have noticed that they have gone up since I booked them. Do you think they would have been even cheaper at 6:00 am? This is the first time I've booked right away with Southwest, and am wondering if I should have booked them right as they turned over.

I'm not going to beat myself up about it (we're talking $80 difference for 4 flights), but is there a lesson for me to learn here? :teacher:

I was on 6:04 and flights were not up yet. came back 6:20 and they were up. The only difference in my flight was way home time i wanted was initally 109$, but i did not jump on it hoping the flight down price would drop from 123$. I wound up booking at 123$ each way and glad i did because flight down rose to 149$ about 10 min after i booked.

OK - I got our flights for $123 which is nothing to sneeze at - especially as the flight down has risen to $149 since I booked. I was wondering if they would have been the lowest price of the day ($112) right at 6:00am - I suppose in future I'll make sure I'm online a bit earlier. I really had no idea that they would rise as quickly as they did

I booked this morning. It was the price I knew it would be from where I'm flying out of-Denver, co--$177.00 one-way. I've been watching flight prices over several months and we never get a break from Denver. Plus the Non-Stop flights sell out if not booked early. I don't think our price will go down, I've only seen the price go up.

I was able to get $112 for each way from BUF to MCO with good times and direct flights. I refreshed at 6:17 and purchased the flights right away. Can't complain all about $896 for a family of 4.

I went ahead and booked our nonstop one way ticket back from MCO to SDF sinse the price was $110! I didn't have enough points to book the flight down and the price was higher by 60 bucks! I opened a plus card last week (have the premier), hit the $2000 so I'm waiting on my additional points to post...them I'll go back in and book the one way down and hopefully by then the price will have dropped a bit! I thought $110 was a good deal and at least wanted to lock that in :thumbsup2

Ok guys I did good this morning $108 each way got the first flight down at 7:25 and last non-stop at night 6:45 very happy $864 for family of 4 this is out of Bradley.

We got Long Island to Tampa for just $109 per person. Could have flown to Orlando for $144, but the times weren't nearly as good, and the $200 total saved will cover the cost of a rental car for the week. Plus, I really love both Islip and Tampa. So much easier than LGA, JFK or MCO.

I live a 9-iron away from JFK, but almost always drive out to ISP. It's such a pleasure. Get dropped off at the curb (I have a lot of relatives near ISP, so I go to one of their houses first and they drop me off then bring my car to their house), check-in, and get through security in 15 minutes. We were able to get $109 going down to MCO (with points). Had to pay more coming back, but always do since we usually come back during LAbor Day weekend.

Have you noticed Southwest decreasing the number of flights between ISP and MCO (even TPA and FLL seem to have fewer flights than in the past as well)? Puzzling, because the demand is seemingly there.

Glad I booked first thing this morning. Our flight down has jumped to $38.00 more per person and our flight back is $52.00 more per person. Wow...

Southwest is reducing flights at many markets where the demand seems to be high. The reason is they are adding new markets (such as DCA and the Caribbean) as well as replacing the aircraft from AirTran (the 717) that is not coming over. Unfortunately the CEO of Southwest (Gary Kelly) has said the time is not right to add aircraft. So the only way to add new markets without adding aircraft is to take aircraft from existing markets.

ugh there are less flights then i hoped for and i hate all the return flights!! plus i haven't got my points yet! ahhh i have spent the $2000 now i need to get points so i can book some flights the flight down isn't too bad but i hate all the flights back!

I was able to get $123 each way nonstop IND to MCO. THat comes out cheaper than what I paid on AIrtran two years ago, when you factor in seat assignements and baggage fees, so I think I did OK.

I was not thrilled with my return flight options, though. I did NOT want an AirTran operated flight but in order to get Southwest I either had to take a 2.5 hour layover (direct the flight itself is only two hours) or I had to take a 10am flight. I really didn't want to be on ME super early on our last day, that's just sad! So we ended up going with an Airtran operated flight. Oddly enough, the same flight booked through AirTran was more expensive.

Anyone know, even though it's AirTran, my bags are still free, right? I still check in with Southwest even though it's operated by AirTran?

I'm sure they operate in markets where the demand is not all that high. I can certainly understand testing new markets. However, taking flights from one of your highest demand - and highest priced - markets doesn't make much sense.

I'm flying in from Portland, OR and got flights for $172pp yesterday. By 9am pacific one of the two flights was sold out of cheap flights. We booked the other (which is the one I wanted anyways). When I looked this morning they were $269! Wow.

Our market just got switched over from AT to SW so this is our first time flying with them. Booked today and got $756 for 4 out of RIC which I'm okay with. I love getting those bargains when they (SW and AT) have them so I'm going to keep my eye on the prices to see if they drop - can always use a credit!:thumbsup2

I just wanted to hop on here to say, keep checking your flights. I'm not flying in the fall, we're going next month, and only decided to go in January. I started stalking SW about halfway through Jan, and flights were consistently about 250 ea way, out of BOS, MHT and Portland were higher. About two weeks ago I happened upon flights out of BOS for 120ea and jumped on them. These are one way tix, I still haven't found flights home. Heck, we might wind up driving back:rotfl: I'm not real worried, luckily we're not on a super tight budget, I just HATE paying high prices when I know I can get a better deal. Good luck to all!

We are in Bellmore. Closer to JFK, but still prefer to fly out of ISP.

Southwest has definitely cut flights out of ISP. They seem to have added flights out of LGA, but that looks more like a conversion of AirTran routes.
