Anyone want to keep track of how much they save towards their Disney vacation?????

Another good day :yay: I am up $57.01 in ebay sales, and another $20 from a friend that owed us money (ok so I am going to add that to the Disney pot hahahaha)

Total for Disney $248.01

Why am I so "nervous" about trying to sell on ebay? I have so many things to sell and usually bring it to the consignment shop, I make decent from it, but would be making much more from ebay, KWIM. I buy off ebay all the time, just too nervous to actually set up shop haha.

anyone try mygoldenvelope?
I really only have 2 small pieces that an ex gave me (they are 10 yrs old haha :lmao:), wonder how much i'd get for them.

Hi everyone, now that i am home from work, i want to intro myself!

I have gone to WDW for Thanksgiving for the last 7 years (this will be #8) with my inlaws, as their treat. I am blessed that they have insisted on doing this for us -- and paying! I guess i knew it would come to an end at some point, and now that they are getting ready to retire - and b/c of the economy (father in law is self employed) - they said they can only take us every other year now - which -- don't get my wrong is AWESOME. And i fully know that i am blessed for that!!!

However, as i am sure some of you know -- once you get a taste of going yearly, it's a habit -- and my dd is 9 now - she has been going to WDW for TG since she was 3. When we chatted that Nana couldn't take us next year (2011), to see look of sadness on her face was killing me! LOL And she said "Mom, i will do whatever i can to help you " when i told her that somehow we would save up the money to go!

So, me and my 9yr old dd are in this together (DH is happy going every other year, he's not a big traveler) .

As it is now, We will definately have to be in a value resort (POP) which dd is thrilled about, as she has always wanted to stay there - and MIL won't "do a value resort" LOL. However, I most certainly will!! LOL

So, here is my situation:
I work PT - for a church, make a very modest pay - which goes towards bills like: gas for my car, family groceries, and cell phone, also - things that come up - lunch money for dd, bday gifts, etc.. Usually, there isn't a whole lot left after - so i need to be creative.

My cost breakdown will look like this:
(keep in mind i priced the vaca. on the WDW website using 2010 prices, so i know they will go up by the time i can book when they release 2011 prices)

$2096.00 will cover hotel (POP) for 8nights/9days, 9 day park passes, and the disney dining plan (the one with 1 counter and 1 table service) for me and dd.

I am lucky where i have 18 months to save - i plan on booking a package as soon as they open up 2011 rates, so that will be $200 - which i should be able to take out of my july "Extra" paycheck - which will leave me with an $1800 balance to save up by OCt. 2011.

So, today i am going to make a savings jar for our change, and start reading the blog mentioned above.. and look for spare change around the house! LOL

Be sure to regularly check unclaimed funds!

Can I join you?? Dh just agreed that if everything lines up, we can plan to go next year. We had to cancel a trip last year when I wasn't sure if I was going back to school or keeping my job. I went back to school & will graduate next May.

Sooo, if I have a job lined up, we can save up the $ and everything else works out, we get to go. I'm not telling the kids til it's a definite so I need someplace to plan!

I want to come back later and read through the posts for ideas. Right now, I'm getting stuff ready to list on CL & ebay and have some med. reimbursements to put into our ING acct to save for next June. I'm hoping to save enough out of "extra" type funds that we will have it covered & saved up with only $10 a week coming out of our regular pay. No cc will be used so if it's not saved, we're not going.

I'm saving for a trip in January 2011 by taking no money from our paychecks. I've been doing surveys, rebates, swagbucks, turning in change and recycleable cans, selling on CL and ebay, and putting any found money into the savings. I'm hoping to save $3000 (but would LOVE $3600), and I have just over $1100 so far. It's adding up so nicely!!

Hi everyone! I found this thread this morning (shhhh! I was at work...don't tell! ;)). It took me until just now to find the time to read thru the whole thread. There are some great ideas here!

Here's my situation:

We are booked for 8 nights in mid-July at a Mod resort (it'll be the first time we stay anywhere besides AKL! :scared:). We have 1 day base tickets in order to make it a MYW package so that I could use my free QSDP pin (which I paid to upgrade to standard dining), and we're going to take advantage of the Y.E.S. program open enrollment and corresponding 7 day PH park tickets (totaling 8 days of tickets). Still watching and waiting for airfare to come down into the reasonable price range.

Got all that? ;)

Now for the finances: I have paid $650 on our trip thus far. I have another $650 set aside in a savings account, plus $350 due back to me in reimbursements from DH's flexible spending account. I have listed close to 50 items on half.com and Amazon since Sunday. So far, I have sold 3 items, totaling about $30 (these were just 2 old CDs and a little-used video game). Also, I have a large glass bottle about half full of change (silver as well as pennies). I've just begun using Swagbucks, and I've been a member at both SharedReviews and Sunshine Rewards for a while, but the rewards there have been slow lately for me.

I am hoping to put some stuff up at CL this weekend....I have a boatload of toys that my kids no longer play with (I'm thinking I could sell them in lots), as well as kids' clothing (ditto).

I'm hoping to scrape an additional $1500(ish) together in the next 7 weeks (my final payment is due for my trip on May 27). I'm trying to do as much as I can with Half/Amazon/eBay so that I don't have to touch my household money or put anything on our credit card. I think this thread will be a great way to keep me on track and focused! :thumbsup2

Thanks, OP!

I just started saving today for a possible July 2011 trip.

As of right now..... I have roughly $13.

.........gotta start somewhere, right?:lmao:

Yes!! It's a start & it all adds up!

I've got some items up on CL and have some responses. People are so flaky though, I respond then they don't reply. Hoping to get my kids' outgrown bikes sold this weekend & that will kick off my savings. Plus I have $20 check at Target eyecare to pick up.

This thread is very motivating to keep finding those little ways to add to the savings.

Well, i officially opened up a savings account today with $25! LOL It's a start!!

I also rejoined a rewards site and got $5 to sign up (but you need $30 before you can cash out - so i will just let it accumulate to $30 )

Going to decorate a coffee can for spare change also tomorrow..

Anyone have any good sites that teach you how to grocery "coupon" shop well?

I just got VERY excited-
I'm looking for different items to sell on eBay to raise some money, and I realized that I have a few musical instruments in VERY nice condition. For example, I have a euphonium (used but in very good conidion) that I bought for $2500. So, I could possibly get at least $1000-$1500 for it... right?!!?

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! you should get al LEAST that. Everyone wants a euphonium. In fact, just the other day I..........
Just kidding. Good luck.

Haha well I know they aren't the most popular things out there, but they're pretty pricey...
