what did i do wrong? i was sure i'd read on here that i could buy a new magicband in the park and have my info transferred to the new band. i promised a couple small kids i'd get them a red magicband as souvenir so they could unlock some dragon on some infinity game thing. not wanting to lose it, i waited till we were on our way out of MK on our last day. when i tried to buy one, i was told i couldn't. they flat out refused to sell me one period and the lady told me "we don't do that". she was really blunt and obviously very annoyed when i tried to get more info.

did i get it wrong? it just doesn't seem right to me that they can't transfer info and now i'm empty handed for the kids. anyone have an extra they can send me or can someone explain to me how i can get one now that my vacations over? i still can't wrap my head around why they wouldn't sell me a band.

1. How long ago was this? MBs are sold everywhere at WDW these days.

2. There are a number of websites that sell MagicBands.

If you asked them to transfer info on to a new band, no one can do that. The MagicBand does not hold any info.

If you had asked to purchase two MagicBands in a "link it later" mode, they would have sold you two bands. Or, if you had purchased two bands and asked them to link it to your current MagicBand or ticket, they would have done that.

this was yesterday. i didn't need to transfer info, like i said, it was to be a thing for the kids. i don't know if it has to be activated for the game to work, but i'm guessing not? i was told in no uncertain terms that NO, i could not buy one unless i had a ticket. i didn't have a ticket, i already had a band, i just needed one in another color. i showed the lady my band and said i just need a new one in red. i was then told no, i still can't buy one. then my teen asked "not even to just keep in the box?" and she was told no. not to "link later", not to leave in the box, not at all. i was not allowed to buy one, period.

since i got shut down in disneyworld WITH a valid ticket on an active band, insisting i have a plastic ticket to buy one, i didn't think i could buy one without any ticket at all.

Did your daughter use her MagicBand with her Infinity game to make sure it works? If so, and she isn't giving her band to one of the little kids, your best bet is to order through the DisneyStore.com.
