We are volunteering with Meals on Wheels starting next week and hopefully on a regular basis once I get done with my project. I know that the Seniors probably need a bit more than just a meal and want to bring more items to help them out. Some ideas:

Toilet Paper
Kleenex
Paper Towels
Soap
Shampoo/Conditioner
Toothpaste/Mouthwash
Toothbrushes
Deoderant
Combs and Brushes
Shaving Cream
Lotion
Nail Files
Sewing Kits
Room Spray

For those that have volunteered, can you think of anything else that may be useful for us to bring based on your experience?

I think the best thing you could offer them would be your time. Many are shut-ins and you could be their only company. It's a good thing you are doing! :thumbsup2

Same answer. Show them you care. My dad has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for nearly 20 years. When I'm home, I ride along and help out. He is so kind and trustworthy, and genuinely cares about the people on his route. They love him!

Do they have pets? I just thought about that one. It may be useful to bring pet food? I know that conversation is important but I also know that most aren't able to get out as much as they need to for the essentials. Someone suggested those gripped socks too. May look at bringing those in the future.
