Anyone visit the other Disney Parks in other countries?

Been to Paris a few times but its not got the magic that WDW holds. I find the Europeans terrible at queuing and not willing to wait. One time me and Ds age 3 were waiting to see mickey as the characters are in the hotels, and mickey shooed everyone away to let ds see him. That was lovely but my back was sore from the daggers coming from the ride guests.

I am in no way meaning to be rude here, but being a European I had always considered Scotland as part of Europe, so do not understand your distinction here??

Best wishes

Not wanting to speak for the OP, or in fact for all Scots, ;) but it's probably because IN GENERAL many of us still do a mental divide between the UK and "The Continent". There may well be some people here who consider Europe one general mass, but correctly or incorrectly, many of us still refer to "Europe" when meaning "The Continent".

Europe to me is more further south with France/Germany/Spain. As the UK is separate but classed by others as one. So I agree with Bonnie. And I do find Port Adventura just as bad as DLP for the poor manners.

Oh PortAventura is dreadful for pushing/not queuing etc (loved the park though!! We got their Express Passes (stayed on site) and I'm so glad we did! Complete and utter chaos! :rotfl:

DLP nearly every week depending on weather :goodvibes

Not interested really by WDW. Would rather do DL and will be doing HK this summer all being well.

It is a few-hour drive from my place to Disneyland near Paris. Would be faster without the french speed-limits. I think it is 120 km/h. Snail-Express......

Very expensive place, even if I book over the french or dutch website.
The resort-rooms are small and shabby. If you want bigger rooms, it is not affordable (Disneyland Hotel, New York Hotel - nuts!).
I've seen one of the New York rooms. It looks like 1996 in there, worn-out. Just not Disney.

But they have great rides, for example Space Mountain is really intense!

Google for the Disney Cheyenne or Santa-Fe Resort, that buildings are a joke for me! They stopped advertising on TV in Germany years ago, seems that there is no demand anymore. Haven't heard of anyone that he has been to Disneyland in the past years.

I remember that they advertised with pictures of the Grand Floridian and with the castle fom WDW. By the way, the castle in Disneyland Paris is so ugly! No princess would sleep in there.

The Disneyland Hotel is very impressive. The ticket-counters and turnstiles are beneath this building, so you get very close. And there is an escalator at the parking-lot that brings you near the entrance.

Just to compare, 4 nights at the Disneyland Hotel would be more than 2000 Euro for 2 adults. For 500 Euro less, we could stay at the Polynesian Resort!

And the standard rooms in the Disneyland Hotel are only 35 m² or something. Also a joke!
French people can't even say "Disneyland" the right way. They say "Disnülo", that sounds so un-Disney

I did DLP when I was in Paris a few years ago. even though I enjoyed it I probably would not do it again.
Pretty much I just the type of person who when I travel to foreign places I like to do different things. I don't want to eat at places I can eat at back home and I don't want to have the same experiences I have at home.
I can go to wdw here.

It was very nice but I have a france trip planned for this May and I'm not planning on doing DLP

Thank you very much for your explanation. I meant no offense, just curious.. I will stilll include you in Eurovision, lol

Again, thank you for your explanation.. and i agree that bad manners are found all over Europe and indeed the world.. I very much enjoy the lovely Scots people :thumbsup2

I would love to go to Tokyo Disney someday. From what I've read here and other boards, it's the current standard every other park has to live up to.. from ride quality, maintenance and friendliness.

I have been to DLP a few times and always enjoyed it. My last visit was during the Christmas celebrations and the park really did look magical with all the decorations and of course the castle all done up.

Ob DLP isn't as big as WDW but it def has two rides that I wish I could move to WDW. Crush coaster and Space Mountain which I prefer to the one in WDW.

We went To Disneyland Paris (we are in the UK so it is a 2 hour train trip for us) and HATED IT! In my opinion, Disney should be ashamed to associate themselves with it and it lets the Disney brand down in so many ways.

The things that really put me off: People walking around smoking and smoking whilst in queues for rides, in the restaurant people leaving their dirty dishes right next to the buffet dishes and they just piled up without any CM's removing them, people jumping in front of you during the parade and just giving you a look of indifference if you object, and people literally pushing in the lines for rides.
There seemed to be a lot less CM's around and those that were didn't seem to want to do anything about any of the above issues.

I love been to DLP a few times & love it. Esp. Space Mountain. Much tighter plot line for Phantom Manor which ties it to Frontierland. DLP merchandise rules too - I wanted to scoop up whole stores. Eats are a bit of a challenge, though.

I've been to all except Hong Kong. DLP was my least favorite. The cast members didn't seem as happy to be there as other places.

Wow this thread has really upset me considering I was getting excited about booking a trip to DLRP for October :(

We went to DLP in July and had a wonderful time. We were warmly greeted at the turnstiles and had great conversations with CMs throughout the park. We thought the park was beautiful! Countless times to DLR and DD is a WDW CM, and we still thoroughly enjoyed our DLP visit!

I didn't mean to discourage you. We had a good time. We stayed at the Disneyland hotel and enjoyed the experience; especially the unique rides. :). The CMs were also friendlier than other Parisians we encountered working in customer service venues, etc.

Wow, I hope you're not discouraged. It is a wonderful park. Remember that because it came later, some things could be "plused" to make them a better experience. It is a nice compact park and also has some rides and experiences other parks don't have.

If you have time, check out the DIS thread on the shareholders club. It is definitely worthwhile if it fits with the trip budget. One of the few (only?) times owning Disney shares has perks.

As some of the PPs have said- don't be upset. Just because some people don't like it doesn't mean that you won't. Millions of people per year can't all be wrong. We definitely enjoyed our trips there. Just don't go expecting the American brand of smiley-face glad handing hospitality that you get in the US. You will be in France and will more likely experience the more reserved courtesy and respect that is typical in Europe.
