Hi. We are vacationing at WDW in April. DS7 has PDD-NOS. Last visit to WDW, 2 years ago was rather hectic. We were there for a wedding and also tried to fit in visits to parks etc. This vacation, it's just us, and we are taking one day at a time.

DS has interest in space, rockets etc.
We would like to consider a visit to KSC, but not certain that he would be able to make it through an entire day there. We are staying off-site(condo) and would actually be an easy drive to Cape Canaveral. Just uncertain of which tour or how to go about it?

Anyone have any comments, thoughts on what may have worked well for your family?

I appreciate any assistance and ideas. Thank you!!!!

I took the standard Kennedy Space Center Tour last May and thought it was prett good. Everything was wheelchair accessible and I had no problems with the tour at all.

Sorry I just noticed the PDD-NOS part of your question. I can't really speak about that aspect of the tours. But the tour lasts about 2 hours and involves many bus rides often waiting for the next bus to arrive.

Unless you do a special event the tour and displays really do not take much more than ½ a day. We went 2 years ago when DS was 7, it was not really technical enough for him but the visuals are great.

I am hoping we will be a shuttle launch for our vacation in June, so we can drive up and watch.

Go For It!

Our DS has Asperger's and space is his 'thing' so a trip to KSC was natural in 2005 when he was 9. It happened to be a rainy day - but we had a great time - we spent most of the day there. We saw the 3D Omnimax movie (which was fantastic) and we did a fair amount of the tour. We ate in the food court also.
You can do some of it at your own pace. We did not get to the Space Shuttle tour or to walk around the outside displays.

We thought it was worth the money we paid to do - just to see our son's eyes light up when he saw the Space Shuttle and rockets and when he knew about alot of the missions etc.

We just took things at our own pace. Do what you can with him and then leave. They have a nice gift shop with some unique t shirts and other neat items.

As you can see we are all for it! Let me know how it works out for you.

Good luck!

We were just there in November. We have 2 boys with Asperger's and we enjoyed all the exhibits and tours. We did just the basic tour of KSC. It took a little convincing to get my boys on the Shuttle Launch simulator, which btw, is incredible!

If you have the opportunity, I'd say go for it...there is so much to do there!

Can anyone comment on if there is a lot of walking involved at Kennedy Space Centre? If someone tires easily (mild CP) is there enough stops to check things out and rest a little?
TIA

From what I remember there wasnt alot of walking, but we didnt do the whole tour of the grounds around the main building - because it was raining. My Dad was in a ECV and he did fine. We took tour buses out to other sites. There were elevators and stairs when you went up in the towers. It seems there were plenty of benches also.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the many replies regarding KSC. I think we are going to go for it and just do and see what we can. I love this thread b/c it always makes me feel like there are so many others out there that "just get it" and have great tips to share:cheer2:
