We are taking an almost-3-yr old and a one-year old to WDW in 15 days. We're thinking of putting the little one in a backpack (just bought a KangaKid from Deuter) during times we can't use the stroller, like lines, dinner waits, etc.. BUT....has anyone used that hip hammock carrier thing?? It looks like it's easier to get the child in and out of, plus we don't need to carry the little one for a long time. The $$ we spent on the KangaKid kills me....it was $120 and those hip carriers are a lot less. But...anyone with experience with this who cares to share their advice, please do so!! Thanks soooo much!

we used a hip hammock with our 13 month old - I wouldn't try a backpack I think it would be impractical. To be honest, we didn't use the hip hammock as much as I expected, as we didn't wait in many long lines with her, but when we did use it, it worked very well.

I have one of the Hip Hammocks. I bought it spefically to use at WDW & the only place I really used it was at DQ. It turned out to just be easier to hold DS. We were there in off season, so our lines weren't that long.

Only thing I don't like about it is it's hot! It has a felt-like lining where baby sits & my DS would be all hot when I took him out. Otherwise, it's very comfortable. I much prefer it to a Snugli.

I had a hip carrier called Sarah's ride. It was very natural feeling. A lot of times moms carry a child on the hip and this just gave support for that while leaving both hands free. DS liked it also.

Based on what I'm reading, I'm going to return my KangaKid! Sounds like the hip carriers are the way to go! Thank you all for your help!
