Where did you stay? Anyone stayed at GC? Was it worth the points or should we pay cash? Obviously weekend points are a lot more and we would consider cash for those nights. What kind of room did you get, and did you get an upgrade from what you thought you were getting? Do any of the rooms have ammenities like fridges and coffeemakers? Any other info gladly appreciated. TIA!

We stayed in 2000 at the DLH (GC was still being built). We paid 23 points a night for three nights (mid week). The room we got was bigger than the one we stayed at in 1988 with a day bed and a wet bar area with fridge and coffeemaker. We were pool view even though we were over by a water fall area and that was our major view. I don't think it was worth the amount of points we paid per night, but we got our Disney-fix that year when we could not go to WDW.

We stayed at the GC in November on points. We stayed in a concierge room (around 44 points per night?), and thought the resort was the best part of our trip. For us, it was worth using points because we were trying to make this coast to coast trip as inexpensive as possible. We were making a quick visit to see our older son who was interning on a movie set.

Concierge was very nice, though not as "generous" as the WDW resorts. For example, in the evening, wine was complimentary for only two hours, and other drinks were only available to purchase. Also, the breakfast selection had much less variety. I only mention it in case you've experienced concierge at WDW and are expecting the same level of service. I'm not sure I'd waste the points on concierge again, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the GC. It was gorgeous, and the location can't be beat.

There was no fridge. I honestly can't remember if there was a coffee maker since the concierge lounge was only a few feet away. Sorry!

We have stayed at the GC twice, once with DD view and once with CA view. It is fabulous. About as good as AKL or WL at WDW. We are returning for concierge level at the GC in 2005, probably on points.

We are intending to go to DL on points this fall and stay at the Paradise Pier hotel. It is very expensive, points-wise, so we are considering renting our points and paying cash. Overall, we think it would be a better deal to pay cash, because then you can get some other perks, too, like free nights and character breakfast vouchers. (In low season) From what I understand, they don't upgrade DVC members for free like they will cash-paying guests, but I could be wrong on that.

Using DVC points anywhere but WDW is pretty points-costly, but then again, it is more moola you don't have to shell out on vacation.
