Anyone used II for DVC?

We own DVC and just bought another resort for trading via II. I agree that so far I have not seen or heard about many 2 BRs at all., but I have seen some...there are 1BR and studios all of the time for various dates. My 2BR splits into 2 one bedroom units, so I plan to just exchange into 1BR units and then if my parents come, use my DVC points for a studio and hope that MS can accomodate my request to put these together into a 2BR.

I trade into DVC and also have DVC points. On one occasion we tried to do this and were denied. MS said that nothing can be changed with an II trade. They did make sure that the units were side by side.

That sucks about not trading into Orlando!

Yeah, I just had to do that today w/ II. Is it only Westgate? That makes no sense!

Spiceycat, how does Westgate keep ending your sale?

road blocks - well you have to talk to so and so - then we have these papers...

after a couple of weeks of this my buyers go elsewhere and I certainly can't blame them.

plus with the new policy Westgate is buying back. that also makes some buyers mad.

Westgate will tell you that it is II - II will tell you it is Westgate. Once you can use II in Orlando (go buy a cheap timeshares elsewhere). You can see that it is definitely Westgate.

Now I do love my DVC - it is nothing in any way or shape like Westgate. Disney is upfront about everything. and doesn't try to change your contract after the fact.

have you seem the EXTRA charges that want their members to pay to exchange their weeks with them..... $500 and if they maintence fees are expensive.

I have heard this, but don't know the truth about it. It will let me look up exchanges in the Orlando area.

I am so tired of this condo. There are so many other options in the area and we are stuck paying the maintanance fee for Westgate. I've got to work much harder on renting and/or selling it.

I am a Westgate Vacation Villa owner as well, and it is correct. You cannot trade your villa for a DVC villa....BELIEVE me, I have tried. That is the one thing that I really hate about these villas. We bought the condo from my parents inorder to trade out to other resorts, boy was I mad when I found out that I couldn't even trade to another Central Florida resort unless it was another Westgate resort. Now I am trying to convince my parents (who have other timeshares in other states) to let us use one of their weeks so we can trade that for a DVC. We'll see how it goes.

What is the policy w/ Westgate buying back? I haven't heard anything about that.

And I haven't seen anything about the extra charges, that would really be bad for us. When we rent ours out, we don't charge much, usually about 600.00 for the week, which gives us a 500.00 (appox) profit after the exchange fee is paid. We mostly rent to people we know and I don't want to charge them $1000.00+ when I know they could go on their own and get something for less.

What is the percentage/terms that Westgate will buy back Pat ?
We're interested in selling our Vistana week too. Not because we don't enjoy it there (and we can trade to Orlando), but it's the maintenance fees are getting so high. We had a 5 year hurricane assessment put on us as owners last year. People are renting at Vistana for less cost than we are to own there. I've also seen renters getting perks like 20% off dining on Vistana property---owners aren't offered anything. I love my DVC and would love to sell Vistana and buy more DVC points !

Yes, that is what I mean, putting the 1BR together with a studio, not a dedicated 2BR. Even if it doesn't work, I think MS could get us "close", and I have heard reports where they accomodated the lock out arrangment which would be perfect.

do you really think that Westgate will say..... this is westgate! not a nice timeshare.

you have to have a buyer (like DVC) then they will buy it back - at that price.

believe Sheraton is at least gets some money....

Westgate lets outsiders get them for $29.00 a NIGHT. and they expect me to be happy about that. :rolleyes1

because they are selling - well guess what if I got a 2-bedroom for $29 a night I won't buy. Why - there is no incentive to buy when you can rent for so much less.

go read the stuff you got since about 6 months ago. they are now charging extra to exchange using their service (at the time they forgot about II:love: )

they want some exchanges thru them to their other resorts to be $500~~~~~

I said to the people who were so upset just use II. I use to be able to just go to II and exchange my westgate. Now I have to go through Westgate to get a confirmation number FIRST.

I really wish Westgate would STOP changing their own rules. They will penny you to death.
