anyone used chegg.com?

Most definitly. My son had some books shipped to him at school in several boxes. For some reason the one box was signed for but nobody could seem to locate the box so Chegg sent him a new one at no charge.

There shipping is not always the fastest as sometimes the books come from different suppliers so I would not recommend waiting until the last minute to order. (ofcourse I am spoiled by Amazons 2 day shipping)

He has saved a substantial amount of money compared to college bookstore prices. Ofcourse you could always buy your books from Amazon and Half and turn around and resell when you are through with them to and probably recoup most of the money back.

With Chegg, when you are ready to return your books, just go online and print and a return label and you are good to go.

We've used it for a couple of years and have saved tons of money. We've never had a problem. As the previous poster said, don't wait until the last minutes, but they still come pretty quickly.

Just check prices at several sites. DS and I were checking different places for his books this semester. The rental fee from Chegg was MORE than purchasing the book used. And as Disneyfan007 said, we turn around and sell the ones he doesn't want to keep on half.com.

We have used both chegg and bookrenters. I can't say enough good things about both of them! I highly recommend renting textbooks! :)

A bunch of my students use Chegg and they love it. It's a great service. :thumbsup2

I used Chegg to rent both of my books. Saved a LOT of money. They made a mistake on one of the items I ordered, but the corrected it very quickly. I was impressed with their customer service.

:banana:Love Chegg. I've used it a couple of times now and it's great. Had to return a book just last motnh because I dropped the class. returned it within 30 days and got a full refund minus shipping!!

I also use valore books to buy books. They seem to be one of the cheapest around and their sellers are very upfront ex missing CD's, accurate descriptions of books, any highlighting etc. They have some of the highest sell back rates I've seen. Another note, some of my professors don't use the book very much so I've had a couple reccomend not buying the book, just borrowing from a friend or copying the needed sections OR they allow using an earlier edition, which can be cheaper. So always check with the professor. And at our school, the library keeps a couple of textbooks you can check out for 2 hours at a time, if he waits to order his books until the beginning of the semester. Then you won't get behind on assignments while waiting on your book order.

Thanks then I think I'll order that way - but of course it won't get here in time - 1st class in Mon - oh well - that's what I get - LOL

Question for those of you that rent books. My DD Spanish book was $200 this semester. :scared1: We have heard it will be used for Spanish 2 but I am sure by the fall semester they will have changed their mind. I was going to get the book from Chegg but this book requires an online access code and I could not get confirmation if the rental came with that code. I know some courses require these online labs. Will the rental books allow that? Thanks!

Loved Chegg. Books come a lot faster than Amazon's free shipping, and it's very convinient to ship the books back. You just reuse the same box and either print the label or sometimes they give you one when they ship you the books you ordered.

I use MBS Direct, I found Cheggs rental prices not really any better then buying a used book (which is most often what you get from Chegg) and then reselling it back.

No, you'd have to buy it separately, and with a book New from the bookstore to guarantee a working code

This is what I found as well. It was no cheaper to use Chegg, and then you don't own it. At least if you own the book, you can sell it back. Maybe it's the types of books I needed :confused3 ).

YES!! I recently purchased my DS's college-course books and saved a BUNDLE! They also arrived fairly quickly too - actually, faster than when I purchased last semester's books on Amazon....

We love Chegg! We rent my DH's textbooks, and they have always been great. We ordered his last set of books on a Sunday night, and they arrived on Tuesday. Can't beat that!

With renting the books, it may cost a little mroe in the long run, but you don't have to put up the money up front, and worry about the bookstore not buying your books back (it happens a lot)

But if you avoid the bookstore altogether and use half.com or Amazon, the Chegg books I've looked at aren't cheaper to rent than buy used. Throw in reselling (online, not at the bookstore), and they're much more expensive.

I do look around, but generally the books i've had to buy so far are maybe only 10 to 15 bucks cheaper on those sites, and it's just a stress to deal with instead of renting or buying from the bookstore, because what happens if you can't resell them on those sites? Our bookstore doesn't buy them back. Also with Math books, they may be a lot cheaper, but none come with the Answer guide which is a must.
