I have tile floors in half of my house and the grout gets really dirty. I am not the clean freak who gets on hands and knees to clean it regularly and recently saw the ad for the Shark Steam vac that's supposed to clean your tile and grout. It looks really great, I'd love to get one, if I knew whether they work or not. Do you or anyone you know have experience with this tool or something similar? I'd love to have clean grout without giving myself housemaids' knees! thanks for the info!:goodvibes

I bought the Shark Steam Mop about a month ago. Used it once to clean my tile floors (kitchen / bathroom) and hardwood (living room/dining room). It worked great - I seriously loved this thing.

The next day, I tried to use it again to clean the hardwood in my bedrooms. It turned on, but would not steam. :confused3 I brought it back to Sears and got my $$ back.

I bought the H2O Steam Mop instead, and I like it. It leaves more water on the floor than the shark did, so takes time to dry. But, it cleans just as well. The water tank seems bigger and its pops out for refilling, so its easier to work with than the shark.

As far as grout, mine was pretty dirty. I had to steam it to loosen it up, then scrub it with a brush, then go over it again with steamer. It helped, but will probably take another application before its close to its original color. I'm hoping that once its close to its original state, this won't be needed.

but not super quick. You need to sweep first, then use the steamer (takes a few minutes to loosen some spots, but not any longer than crawling on the floor) but a lot of the stuff doesn't stick to the pad, so then you sweep again. What's really neat though is that somehow the floor stays totally dry. I have miles of tile and while I'm not sure this is much quicker, it's easier, and almost fun. (My kids were fighting over who could use it.. that in itself was worth the $$.)

We got ours at BBB with a coupon. HTH.

Do you have tile? How did it do for your grout?

Thanks for the info! I'm really hoping I won't have to scrub the grout, I've got miles of it too! Am I looking for a silver bullet? You bet! I'm always hoping!;)

I forgot, where did you get the H2O mop?

of white tile, but the grout is black, so if it is dirty it's not noticeable. Definitely loosens up the muck on the tile though. I believe BBB had the H2O mop also.

I got the H2O Steam Mop at Linen's and Things. I used a 20% off coupon so got it for $80. Its on their going out of business web site now for $79.99. The store near me has everything marked down to 30% off so you might be able to pick it up in one of the stores cheaper than ordering from the web.

i just saw the shark one at Sams club today and was wondering if it would work to clean the grout in our kitchen/dining room. It was 79.99 (i think) at sams.

We've got a LNT here too, I'll check and see if I can find one of these w/a coupon. Thanks for all of the info! It would be so nice to have grout that's all one color! :rotfl: Of course, that would probably mean I'd have to sell my children or something like that ;) since they are usually the ones spilling their drinks/food. but...it's a nice thought anyway, clean grout that is! :goodvibes

I bought one a couple of years ago and have never used it! Maybe I should!
